March 2, 2011 4:26 pm I've only heard good things about this Con. It seems to be a lot of creators and journalists favorite show. I'm especially jealous because Gabriel Hardman is going to be there and can't make C2E2 :( If anyone's going to both and wants to do me a favor :)
February 28, 2011 2:20 pm BQ: I saw all the nominees and I would've gone with Social Network. King's Speech was great but it was distilled Oscarbait. Social Network was riveting on several differnt levels. More importantly director should have gone to Social Network or Black Swan.
January 4, 2011 4:49 pm This is a fantastic list and I'm inclined to agree with the champs. The only small nitpick I have is that Gabriel Hardman's work on Atlas was outstanding and should get him in that Artist of the Year bracket. That said you gave him a mention in the category so bravo. Now let's dial it down a little so I can actually afford a sketch from him!

July 14, 2010 3:00 pm This was actually the first I heard of Atlas getting cancelled and it makes me really sad. I went out of my way to reserve it because I was afraid of this happening... The politics of the business are harsh but at least we get an arc. Sometimes I think my mutant power is to like things that get cancelled.

I love hardcovers and after my first absolute, I couldn't find a reason not to own it in that format if it's available. I tend to get tradepaper backs of more straight up superhero fair (Superman, The Initiative, Secret Six, and Incredible Herc) and get the hardcovers of the literary adaptions (dark tower, enders game, the stand). For events I go the single issue route.

I actually have found "looks great on the shelf" to be a solid factor for me because it adds to the decor of my room. I don't have posters in my walls anymore so the harcovers let me geek out in the classiest way possible.

Great article! I'd didn't know how much fun I was going to have in artist alley!

I got a beautiful inked comission of a Barbara Gordon Batgirl (which was timely considering the POW) from Reily Brown. I had no desire to drop some money on art this con but Reily was so damned friendly, talkitive, and talented, I couldn't resist. He even stuck around to hand me my sketch after I got out of a panel late on the last day of the con.

The only person who beat out Reily for nicest guy at the con was David Mack who was the most pleasent person I've met in my life. My significant other drop crazy money and got a quick painted piece from him because of how kind and gracious he was.

Other great folks at the con: Geoff Johns - Stuck around for more time than needed to sign everyones stuff. Seemed a little drained but what more can you ask of the guy! Amanda Conner - Talked to everyone like we were her best friends in the world. Awesome lady! Chris Burnham - chatted with us like we were drinking buddies. That RR print was incredible. Skottie Young - Wish I would have asked for a sketch in the hardcover he signed for me but it was okay since I got to see him joke around with his kid and wife. Danielle Corsetto - Gave me the best 5 dollar sketch I've ever seen. Gordon McAlpin, Joe Dunn, Tom Brazelton - if you like movies and comics you cant go wrong with these guys and meeting them just made me a bigger fan.

The only person I was disappointed with was Jeph Jaques from Questionable Content. He gave me a really crappy sketch and didn't really engage at all. He gave me the "$5 bucks then gtfo" vibe.

So yeah C2E2=Awesome

April 14, 2010 10:38 am I'm excited to see you guys there, but more excited to have Ron hit on my girlfriend when I'm not there.
