iFanboy at Emerald City Comicon 2011!

Comic con season kicks off this again this weekend in Seattle, and you can find Ron and Conor at the Emerald City Comicon on March 4-6.

iFanboy has hit Emerald City for the last three years and we've had so much fun that we wouldn't miss it this year!  The talent lineup for this show is absurdly good, since so much of the comic community calls the Pacific Northwest home.  As always, if you're on the convention floor, walk up, say hi, get to know us!

We're excited, and we hope you're excited too!  We'll be shooting lots of video in both places for those of you stuck in the rest of the world, because we can't leave you out!

And if you don't spot us on the floor, come check out the Emerald CIty Comicon Live Art Event!

When: Friday, March 4th. 9:30pm to 2:00am

Where: Noc Noc, 1516 2nd Avenue. Seattle, WA 98101

What: iFanboy.com, Graphic.ly, and Comic Evolution present the hottest event at this year's Emerald City ComicCon: Live Art at the Noc Noc!

Join a bunch of superstar comic book artists as they paint incredible, original artwork for your amusement as you drink and dance to the fantastic guest DJs. Observe the creation of art in a laid back atmosphere that you would not necessarily get at a crowded convention.

Artists include:

Jim Mahfood, Ben Templesmith, Camilla D'Errico, Scott Campbell, David Mack, Ray Fawkes, Chris Haley, Rebecca Woods, Pete Woods, & Lar DeSouza

Also featuring local Seattle talent:

Stephan Maich, Autumn Baker, Redd Walitzki, & Carl Faulkner

More artists will be announced as the event draws closer.

Dance your cute little behind off to the spinning of DJ Svengali Lad and DJ [Brandon] Jerwa!

Admission is FREE at the door if you say you are there for the live art.

The Noc Noc is a mere couple of blocks from the convention center, so you can continue your geeky excursions well into the night with this event!

All art created will be donated to Emerald City Comicon's Saturday Night art auction, and all proceeds go the Seattle Children's Hospital. Come help support art for a good cause, and watch artists do what they do best in a fantastic environment.

RSVP on Facebook! (Not mandatory but it's nice to know who's coming.)

Comments

  1. Any chance for a meetup?

  2. i was at ECCC 2010, but at that time i had no clue who iFanboy was.

  3. Love Jim Rugg’s art.

  4. I’m going to be there, looking forward to meeting the Ifanbase

  5. Meet up information posted.

  6. Right on. Looking forward to EC3.

  7. If it were not for moving into an new house, I’d be there this year!

  8. Just a few months shy of 21, so no meetup for me. But I’ll still be at the con, reppin my Ifanboy Fear Agent shirt.

  9. can we come?

  10. Really looking forward to the video show for this con. It’s amazing how many creators are in the Northwest.

  11. As always you can be sure to catch me at the con itself, but not at the bar since I work from 10 pm to 8 am. (sleep on Con-days is for the weak :p)

You probably won’t catch me so much in the morning on the 1st day as I’ll be buying anything and everything that catches my eye, so I’ll be moving a lot.

  12. Come to think of it I have a question:

    Will Josh be there? 😛

  13. @Mangaman  Read the first paragraph. 🙂

  14. I’ve only heard good things about this Con. It seems to be a lot of creators and journalists favorite show. I’m especially jealous because Gabriel Hardman is going to be there and can’t make C2E2 🙁 If anyone’s going to both and wants to do me a favor 🙂

  15. I’m coming to the party Friday night, so I’ll hopefully get a chance to say hi to everyone.

And we’re attending the Con on Saturday only, because one day is enough for me, and my daughter is entering the Costume Contest (we’re busily finishing her Underdog costume right now) and the contest if on Saturday.

I’ll try to wear my iFanboy Member T-shirt, but there’s a good chance my 10+ extra pounds from this last year might not make this all that feasible an idea (it’s probably too tight now – ugh!).

So if anyone spots a broken down, tired looking, kind-of-old man with a daughter dressed as Underdog, then you’ve probably spotted me.  Please feel free to say hi.  It’s always fun to meet people face-to-face whom I’ve only spoken with via the site.

  16. @conor  As Charlie Brown once said: http://bit.ly/944gY3

Well I hope greatest fear isn’t a reality: The Josh is a lie.

Anyways it’ll be cool, I’ll be on the lookout for Ron and you, the ifanbase, [especially the broken down Powerdad.] 8)

  17. I live in Upstate NY, and have been to comic conventions in NYC and Toronto, but a lot of West Coast creators don’t travel far from home, so I’m attending Emerald City this year.  Got to get some Captain America comics signed by Brubaker!  Too bad lots of the British comic creators don’t attend American comic book conventions very often, except for perhaps San Diego.

  18. The sun is out and the sky is blue. Hurry up and get here before it’s gone!

  19. Can’t make it this year. 🙁

But there is no way in hell that I’m missing next year’s 10th anniversary!

Please please please interview Frank Quietly for the video show. I’ll make a donation if you can do that. Promise.

Hope you all have some fun!

  20. The 1st day was all right. Kinda sick and tired of Brubaker fans though. -_____- much needed Zs required.

  21. Went to the Live Art party (a friend bailed on me, so it was just me), but saw no iFanboys (Molly was there, but was too busy with the event to say a hi to), no CBR people, and no comic shop people (a few said they were going to come). So I talked to a couple strangers, they were okay people to talk to, but end up watching the painters do their thing for a while.

Fun pictures/paintings though, and enjoyed a Rob Roy which taxed the bartender’s memory a bit when I ordered it (it’s basically a Manhattan with Scotch).

Okay, must get to bed. See some of ya tomorrow!

  22. @powerdad  Ron and I were there, we just got delayed and didn’t get to the party until around 11/11:30. We were there until around 1am, though.

  23. @conor  Makes sense. I left around 11:30 or so. (PowerDad can’t stay up too late when he has to make PowerDaughter her PowerBreakfast the next day.)

No worries, it’s not as if it’s all Summer in a day.  I’ll say hi to everyone at the Con today.

  24. What a con. Prob the best ECCC I’ve experienced. Much improved layout. Moving the celebrity autograph stuff to a different floor really helped a lot. Great cross-section of creators. Loved being able to talk to so many different guys. Awesome stuff all around. I think we might be at the apex of awesome comic book con without getting too big and going all Hollywood. If you are about comic books, this con is what you want. Everything you want except all the San Diego movie stuff. Highly enjoyable, all around.

I wanted to specifically thank Chris Samnee for being such a cool dude. I got the chance to talk with a lot of creators (really why ECCC is such a great con), but Chris had to be the highlight for me. I wanted to buy some of his actual pieces (the spider-man/gwen stacy/green goblin piece was screaming at me), but I sadly can’t afford it. I was however lucky enough to grab his last sketch book. Which was quite the find. Really awesome stuff. Some of which I might try to frame. If any of you guys are able to come across Chris at a con, definitely check Chris out. Fantastic art, and a really nice guy. iFanboy has not been wrong for touting him the past year or so, as they have.

And speaking of iFanboy, I got the silly pleasure of meeting both Ron & Conor this weekend, and very briefly chatting them up. Each time I saw them they were both so in the zone that I didn’t want to bug them too much as they clearly were in business mode and had their game faces on. But it was fun to get to say high after listening to them blather on for however many hundred podcasts and arguing with them on here. Thanks for being awesome, guys. Even if Ron seemed to want to be elsewhere. 😉 But even still, I plan on hitting up that hamburger place that Ron recommended.

All in all, great con. Very glad to have attended. Good times. All of you within shouting distance, in the future, if you can, hit up this con.

  25. My first ECCC! I’m hooked! Good times.

  26. Just wanted to point out that I was just messing with Ron in my previous comment. (not that Ron reads the comments.)

But really, ECCC was GREAT this year. Don’t ignore all the hype from Ron & Conor’s tweets. It was that awesome.

And I REALLY regret missing the live art show. Talking to Templesmith today, it sounded like a LOT of fun. If by a LOT of fun you mean half naked women used as canvases. Guess there’s always next year.
