To Chicago! To C2E2 2010!

C2E2 ChicagoIt's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it.

This weekend is the very first Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2)! And iFanboy is going to be there!

The first year of any new comic book convention is always full of possibility and we're excited to be on hand for this new con. As with any comic con, we'll be hunting down interviews and having fun all weekend, so you can look for a video show before too long. If you're at the show, please do not hesitate to say hi to us!

But if you don't run into us on the floor, we expect to see as much of the iFanbase as possible at any or all of the following events, that you will not want to miss:

FRIDAY – 7:45PM

Old Media, New Media, Comics Media

As the internet, mobile devices, and social networking continue to change how we gather information and get entertained, online comics media outlets are quickly evolving to keep pace. Join moderator Heidi MacDonald (www.comicsbeat.com) and representatives from Comics Alliance, Comics Worth Reading, iFanboy, and other comics sites to find out how they stay on top of a changing landscape. ROOM E352

SATURDAY – 1:30PM

Taking Comic Books Into the Digital World

In a world in which people can watch television shows on handheld communication devices like iphones, there are virtually dozens of ways for the entertainment industry to get their wares into the hands and minds of consumers. Comic Books, and variant products of the genre, are part of that new wave, with translations and formats that stretch across a wide array of digital technologies and platforms, including the Internet, mobile phones, PDAs and more. This panel of digital pros, creators and licensing pros will discuss the future of comics in the digital world. Join panelists David Uslan, Michael Uslan, Rick Karo of Comflix, Micah Baldwin of Graphic.ly Studios, Christian Beranek of The Webcomic Factory, Mike Pellerito of Archie Comics, Ron Garney and Jimmy Palmiotti. Comments

  1. Won’t be at the con much but I’ll try and find you guys on the floor and hoping to make it to the party!

It just won’t be the same without Josh there though, that guy is pretty cool.

  2. You guys aren’t going to see Neil Gaiman?

I’ll probably be at the after party on Saturday so hopefully I’ll see you there.

  3. I’m super excited for this, I’ve never been to a con before!  Hopefully I’ll see you guys on the floor!

  4. Still working out some of the finer details, but hopefully I’ll see you guys there

  5. Sounds like fun. I’m jealous.

  6. is josh going to this one?

  7. Nope.

  8. It’s really just iFan without Josh.

  9. I’m holding down the goddamned fort is what I’m doing.  This ship don’t run without me.

That, and I’ll probably edit the show…

  10. You’re going to be at NYCC though, right Josh? Right?

  11. I’m excited to see you guys there, but more excited to have Ron hit on my girlfriend when I’m not there.

  12. I really wanted to go to this on Friday, and as a librarian my job would have paid for it too. I missed out, as we’re only letting 4 people register and I’m low on the totem pole. Crap. I would have liked to say hello at least.

  13. I may have to stop in at the after party on Saturday.  Reggie’s is awesome and has a ton of tasty craft beers left over from last week’s Craft Brewer’s Conference.  They also have a CD store upstairs, Record Breakers, that has a legendary used-CD wall.

  14. I was wondering if anyone had any advice about how early I should show up? I know it starts at one on Friday but this is my first con and I have no idea what the lines will be like on when it opens.

  15. My plans fell through… the downside of not having any offline friends that are into comics means I’d have to do this whole thing alone… definitely not feeling like doing that though.

I will be at HeroesCon though.  Probably not going to be nearly as awesome, but hey, it has to be better than a WizardWorld.

  16. See you guys Friday night at the panel!

@WeRideToFight:  my guess is that if you show up at noon and stand in line then you are going to be fine.

  17. Stoked…though I’ll only be there Saturday.  Anyone going to Gaiman?

  18. so I am way late on posting this, but if you guys wind up at Reggie’s and you’re hungry, I hear that their food is really really good, particularly the chicken wings.  I can’t say from experience but I know people who go there just for the food and it is kind of out of the way if you’re not in the south loop.

SO support them and eat their food because I like going there and I want them to stay open forever.

  19. I met conner and ron today it was awesome they signed stickers for me !!!!!!
