April 17, 2012 10:58 am Eh only wonderwoman for me. BQ: As for the title. How about Wednesday Heroes? In my sitcom it isn't one with a laugh o meter. Nor is it one with a handheld camera approach. It would be something like spaced mixed with community with a bit of of real life documentary mixed in. It sort of down to earth that it's not all happy everything is okay mode. No it is a story of three men who find themselves at a crossroads of life who don't really know each other. Each one is broke but they all agree to live together to afford rent in an apartment building full of nuts. They bond over their love of comics. The show would be centered on the friendship of these odd ends, dealing with the stigma of stereotypical comic reader, and trying to accomplish something in their lives that eventually turns into ifanboy podcast. But what will the humor come from? Like i said, it will come from a few places, one is the conflicts that arise from living in ridiculously cramped quarters, trying to find a decent comicbook store that isn't full of freaks, and embarking on epic quests for love, desired comics, and sanity in an insane world. There won't be lots of slapstick but most of the comedy will also come from the general disappointment each finds in their own quest of life and how they make it through that. Josh is going to be the uptight one who's grumpiness will be played for laughs but his quest focuses on trying to get a career in comics while trying to balance finding a girlfriend (spoiler he does), Ron will be the slacker with a heart of gold who even though acts like a lazy good for nothing is trying his best to stop being that person (also a running gag is how he "borrows" stuff and how he frantically tries to replace it), Conor will be the mediator in the group who tries to maintain his patience when diffusing difficult situations but in secret the dude has barely any patience as he tries to find that inner peace through the teachings of batman. So yeah, it's a sweet comedy with a bit of melancholy but as always triumphs over the trials of life. After all, if the FF can overcome galactus surely these guys can succeed at life.
April 11, 2012 2:52 pm I respectfully disagree, the moment you think you can't do something, then it settles in that you really can't. Kind of a self fufilling prophecy.
April 11, 2012 2:35 pm What i meant to say when using the car analogy is that people are afraid to take it out for an adventure and are content with meaningless design aesthetics.
April 11, 2012 2:34 pm I think it's that fear that causes people not to write superman very well. Superman is this sweet classis muscle car. Doesn't need a spoiler or a decal job, doesn't really need much of a facelift. All it needs is to be dusted off and taken on the road at high speeds. I'm pretty much the opposite of most people when it comes to the "writing superman thing". I'm more like, dude, i will write all of your lesser titles and get you coffee, only if you'll let me write superman. If i do good i'll be extremely happy, if i don't, well, no one will look to me as the one who ruined superman. That dishonor belongs to those who shall not be named.
April 11, 2012 2:11 pm Challenge accepted Jimski. The way i see it your complaints are valid. The only problem is that the majority of people who say this are the same number of people who tell me that Batman should kill the joker and be a little more evil to be completely badass. I'd say that when you look at the people who are complaining you should do one of two things: ask yourself if there is anything worth of value in their complaints and if these people are really the ones anyone should listen to. When i read your complaints i feel that there is worth in them and that it is coming from a decent person. But when i hear these complaints come from a person who only liked the ironman movie specifically because he's killing terrorists and that other hero's should do likewise, then I'm a little iffy on that.
March 29, 2012 9:49 pm I've got a bad feeling about this. I remember that time i got excited about green lantern and it crashed and burn and maybe killed some people. Then again, the kryptonian symbol for hope is the S shield. Please be good, movie. I really want everybody to see how great superman is again.
March 27, 2012 12:00 am Yeah, i keep wanting superman to be good. I don't want to buy something that features superman but is utter crap. That sends the wrong message that they could churn out half assed stories and we'll just eat it up. Jesus, how hard is it to come up with good superman comics? Batman has had way too much of the spotlight. Damn straight superman needs a new badass villain to fight.
March 26, 2012 11:54 pm Mr. Johns, you baffle me. Justice League rubbed me in all the wrong ways, but this? This is something right here. I love the blend of humor and action here as well as the literal fish out of water motif. I love the whole thing that i get to see the Aquaman mythos expand before my eyes. Heh, combine the writing and the Ivan reis's art (the art that made me fall in love with green lantern and his merry band of spacefaring knights) all wraps up in one awesome and darn funny title. Aquadog? Arthur trying to order fish and chips? Him living in a lighthouse and introducing Mera to our world with mixed results? Badass menaces from the deep and from our world? A possible quest? SOLD.
March 26, 2012 11:48 pm Man, i love the direction the flash is going now. Last issue made up for the lackluster 4th issue and the good/okay issue. I felt it was a return to form. I thought it was amazing and captain cold's look won me over. I agree with Flash923, Barry is in some deep sh*t right now and i'm actually worried for patty. That and the rogues are going to be in this issue!? DAMMIT DC, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! and give me the comic in return.
