Okay then, i have been pulling this title for three months now and i honestly have to say this is the title that i look forward to each month.
Each month keeps improving and each month i find myself being wowed.
The writing for this book is pretty damn solid. Now Manapul is no alan moore but he is no slouch either. His dialogue is snappy, his characters never run the risk of blending into each other. I wasn’t able to see why some people think the dialogue is clunky at all. There were’nt any cliches or out of character quips, and most importantly he seems to have a good grip on who Barry is. Barry is suppossed to be optimistic, analytical, and good for a few witty statements without making him into a clown. Some people think that this comics pace is a bit slow like geoff johns, yet this couldn’t be more wrong. In the issue, we cover more ground about Manuel’s mysterious past, Barry and the police force dealing with the emp blackout, some super heroics, and a glimpse of the Rogues reckoning.
In addition to this, Manupul has to be the best artist i have ever seen for the flash. The art has a wonderful fusion of both east and west. It’s clear to see the little bit of mangaesque influences like the speed lines and the simplistic renderings of people. Did i mention that the penciling has the almost magical ability of capturing the Flash’s considerable speed? Believe me it is probably something easier said than done. This guy has to have one of the best panel layouts that i see. They are inspired and bold in their execution. One last thing, did anybody else get excited for the flash saving a crashin airliner?
I didn’t mean to gush, but dammit this has to be my favorite title to have come out of the new 52, and i couldn’t be happier.
DC, you got something special here.

Story: 5 - Excellent

  1. Man, that airplane save was one of the coolest things I’ve seen in comics in a while. Reminded me of when Flash ran across the blades of the helicopter while it was in-flight, but better.
