I was hoping Superman would be as fun as Grant Morrison’s action comics, but that was not the case. Though Jesus Merino does an admirable job with the art duties, George Perez was unable to tap the same magic at the keyboard that made him a legend at the drawing board. The story was overly wordy, tied together by a clumsy expose by Clark Kent. The most interesting part of the issue being a reference to the first issue of Stormwatch does not bode well for The Man of Steel’s self titled magazine. I love Superman, but I don’t think it will win my attention back as long as it’s written by Perez.
