I am glad to see that even if Superman’s increased power level in this compared to Action Comics he is still a relateable, human character not some invincible God amongst mortals. Although, i suppose, more accurately Clark Kent is the one you relate to. He is a believable reporter here, distrustful and not satisfied with the public story he is being fed. I get the sense that having Clark Kent investigating you would be a real pain in your corrupt, criminal ass.

Lois and Clark have a very believable relationship here, although not a romantic one. When they argue, it sounds like a real argument about something that matters.

So excellent writing, and a pretty good story with very good artwork. The book delivers on every note it tries to hit. My only complaint, and it is very small, is how Superman talks. I think they are trying to go for the Golden Age superhero tone, which is sort of a neat nod to the past, it just doesn’t sound right to me.

4 and half out 5 stars
