After glancing through some of the reviews prior to writing mine up im glad i wasnt the only one who didnt enjoy this issue as near as i thought i was going to. The worst part about all this is that i really really wanted to like this book so much to the point i started second guessing myself as to why i didnt enjoy it much after i finished reading it.

First off the worst part about this book is the art, usually art doesnt play that big of a factor enough to me to not read something but i think it totally turned me off this title in this case. Some of the panels are downright horrible as to how Frankenstein looks compared to the next panel where its as if a different artist did it. Some scenes it was decent and then others seemed very lazy with little to no detail and action scenes where it was somewhat distracting as to what was even going on.

The story on the other hand seemed somewhat rushed and didnt take the slow getting to know the character himself approach as im more used to with Jeff Lemires books. Then again maybe that isnt what i should have been expecting from a title like this since i do like the concept itself enough and have enough faith in Lemire as a writer to pick this up in the first place. I mean the fact that he has a team of different type of monsters is cool and if i were to stick with this title i would hope to actually get to know these characters more and would want to see more dialogue and witty banter between them while fighting other monsters.

Despite eveything i said here though i didnt downright hate it comepletly but felt it would be alot better then this and i guess it just missed the the mark . Depending on how my pull list is looking the next time this title comes out i may consider buying the second issue just to confirm my feelings at this point on this book but hopefully it will get better because at this point its not looking good.
