This was a really fun 1st issue. Jeff Lemire had me at “Right this way Agent Frankenstein…” I don’t have a whole lot of history with these characters but i think Lemire did a really good job at introducing the key players and dropping me in to their first mission. I like the device of the uplink to give us necessary story/character info while still being part of the narrative.

I’m looking forward to the next issue. Ponticelli’s art while being a bit cluttered with detail at times, has a really nice aesthetic going. I think the work might be amplified by reducing the amount of detail or increasing contrast in his pages especially the large action sequences, to keep the eye from getting lost.

Sure, this is a little bit BPRD/Hellboy, but thats perfectly fine. Its going to be fun, and this creative team will throw some good twists in. Can’t wait for more.

  1. This was one of the few titles that really completely connect with me. I actually did enjoy most of the story although the ending was a little bland. My biggest problem was with Ponticelli’s art. I can see where it would appeal to certain tastes but just not mine. Still a pretty fun concept though.
