April 20, 2015 1:56 pm But what about the '60s creators? For Marvel, Jack Kirby and Stan Lee are obviously Lennon and McCartney. But for DC ... John Broom and Carmine Infantino? Certainly, Julius Schwartz is George Martin.
April 12, 2015 7:04 pm For me, the greatest tragedy of Convergence is that, for the first time, I had the thought, "Maybe that universe DID need to be wiped out." Can't imagine Zero Hour week being any better, but feeling cautiously optimistic about the two weeks of Pre-Crisis stuff.
March 1, 2015 4:44 pm No, don't pack Alfred's hand in ice! I know, that's what everybody says to do, but in fact you risk damaging the blood vessels and making reattachment more difficult.
January 31, 2015 10:52 pm As far as Flash movies, I'd most like to see Mark Waid's "Return of Barry Allen" storyline. But since they'll never make a Wally West movie, can you think of any Barry stories worth making into a film? The only one I can think of is the old "Death-of-Iris/Reverse-Flash-Neck-Snap/Trial/Wake-Up-Happy-in-the-Future" story.
January 11, 2015 5:44 pm Conor, you're not alone in your Batman Ennui. In fact, I think it's a symptom of a bigger malady: DC Ennui.
October 12, 2014 5:00 pm I use my girlfriend as my non-fanboy barometer. Her opinion was that it introduced too many characters and plot-points for a pilot, comparing it unfavorably to Smallville, where such a story would have been spread out over the course of a season. The funny thing is, I seem to remember having the same feeling when Johns started his run on the Flash comics.
September 8, 2014 4:46 pm I dropped most titles for 52 month, but I quite enjoyed the Detective issue.
August 12, 2014 11:18 pm No one seems to be mentioning that it was also the summer of Ghostbusters II. Honestly, that was my most heavily anticipated movie of the year.
August 11, 2014 11:04 pm Thank you, Batman '89, for getting me into comics. The first book I ever picked up was Batman 436. Not only was "Year Three" one of the all-time great story lines, I also got to start the same issue as Tim Drake did. Yet, he seems to be aging a little better than I have ...
June 29, 2014 9:43 pm "Crisis on the Infinite Earths" didn't wipe the slate very clean, either. I suppose they had less history to compress than they did with the New 52, but I think the real difference between the two is that they followed up "Crisis" with a lot of good comics.
