January 30, 2015 11:39 am Paul was/is an outsider compared to Josh, Connor and Ron. They had been in the comics game for decades, Paul was a relative newcomer.
January 30, 2015 11:38 am I wanted to write something funny about how I wouldn't miss Paul but... I can't. I miss him already. He's the living dead right now. So sad.
November 30, 2014 7:28 pm No Catwoman? It is so good now! You guys would actually like it! The new creative team is solid!
November 3, 2014 4:10 am I am incredibly ambivalent about the idea of so many superhero movies being pumped out all at once. In 2016, we are going to have seven Superhero films. We're getting eight in 2017 and seven more in 2018. That means, over the course of three years, we are going to be "treated" to 22 Superhero films! That is extraordinarily stuffed. This isn't even including films like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Star Trek, Transformers, TMNT, etc. I kind of worry that it won't be simply Superheroes that come tumbling down but the entire mainstream geek culture movement. Bridging to a different topic, the Inhumans have me really wondering how Marvel is going to handle them and, more importantly, how the public will see them. If they focus on the royal family, your lead character, Black Bolt, is a guy who can't talk. His will in interpreted by a woman who has... Hair powers...? They travel around with a teleporting dog, who may in fact be an "evolved" alien/human or maybe just a dog? Then there's a guy who looks like Mr. Tumnus on roids and some freaky fish guy. Also a dude who doesn't have powers but is a kung fu expert... Oh, almost forgot, Black Bolt is a polygamist and all his other wives are suuuuper weird. Like, I think we can all understand the hair powers lady and the blue chick. They look mostly normal. But most people would probably draw the line at slug lady, horse lady and the hairy green reptile lady. Is it just me or are the Inhumans just a little too weird? I suppose marvel made a talking racoon and an ent work... So maybe it'll all be ok?
November 2, 2014 12:43 pm Did you guys watch the second episode? It is loads better than the first. the actress they hired to play Zed - Angélica Celaya - is really good, way better than Lucy Griffiths (Liv from the pilot). The difference between their acting ability is astounding. I found it funny that they decided to keep Liv's dad's shack as their homebase. I suppose it sort of goes without question given the money they pumped into that set but it is still a bit odd given the unceremonious way the producers had Liv exit the show. I suppose the original intent for the show was to have Liv scry on the map at the beginning of each episode and that would be the adventure for the week. I guess the blood becoming wet serves the same purpose, even if it is a bit less dramatic. Constantine's clothing still bugs me. At the beginning of the show, his shirt looked pressed and starched, which does not fit the way they are portraying the character at all (the guy slept in his clothing and only changed his outfit after getting covered in sludge). The coat looked to be getting dirtier as the episode progressed, so maybe they are just choosing not to wash the coat? That would be a good way to make it look worn and old without necessarily having to do it before the first episode. I imagine by the last season the coat will be threadbare and barely holding itself together.
September 7, 2014 11:12 pm Marvel seems to be doing that a lot lately. :(
September 7, 2014 6:28 pm @Master Destructo: All of the bad reviews can be distilled down to "I skimmed the book and it made no sense, so I hate it". It is really one of those books you need to read at least twice to pick up on all the hidden clues. This is probably the best written stand alone comic I have read in years. It is just deep and complex. Great talking about it on the internet to, to see what other people picked up on and you may have missed. The Batman: Future's End comic looks pretty good. Obviously inspired by Snyder's story in Detective #27 (at least based off the cover). The Detective Comics: Future's End comic was pretty good and directly tied into the happenings of the main title (although the ending alludes to a very different status quo for a certain character (which makes sense, given what has happened between now and 5 years from now)). So far, I would say this is better than last year's gimmick month. DC definitely learned from their mistakes. The covers themselves are nice, I like them more than Villain's Month's covers.
September 7, 2014 5:48 pm You should pick it up. It is a really well crafted comic.
September 7, 2014 4:22 pm No love for Grayson: Future's End #1? That comic was amazing.
June 30, 2014 2:35 am Indeed, Romita's Punisher and Batman was published by Marvel. DC's issue was written by Dennis O'Neil with Barry Kitson on pencils.
