This is a hard issue for me to rate. The dialogue and inner monologue are corny and exposition-y to a…

July 25, 2013 12:06 am So far this has been one of the most epic Avengers stories ever told. I really can't understand why more people aren't talking about it. I think it may have something to do with the main Avengers title not being as good. In that way I wish this was the main Avengers title.
July 24, 2013 11:58 pm When did Kirby tell a heartwrenching Captain America tale about the difficulties of raising a child in an impoverished time and place and the costs of a father ultimately failing his son? Not that I doubt Kirby's ability tale to have told such a story, I just don't remember him actually doing it.
July 24, 2013 11:47 pm The idea of Logan losing his healing factor and the character work to go along with it are great....I just can't make myself care about the antagonists of this book.
July 24, 2013 11:45 pm That was some of my favorite Alex Maleev art since the first few years of Daredevil. His artwork is so such a perfect fit for a Batman book.
July 15, 2013 4:48 pm The second compendium comes out soon, it's something like 48 issues for $65 retail (or MUCH cheaper online). I don't know how far behind you are but it is a great value and leads to just before #100. I think everything pre-#100 was excellent.
July 15, 2013 12:40 pm Really happy to see so many Revival nominations. I think it's one of the five best comics being made, yet no one talks about it.
July 11, 2013 3:53 pm My pick was Batman but Justice League was pretty close. In fact, now that I think about it, Superman was even pretty close. When was the last time DC had three great issues in the same week? It had to be pre-New 52 right? Great issue in a great week. Particularly great for superhero comics, which is nice to see.
July 3, 2013 6:45 pm You're 100% right on in your review Paul, what makes this issue successful is the marriage of great Chaykin with a wonderfully paced script. I don't know enough about any of the characters yet to be attached to them but I think that's both by design and not a problem for me as this first issue was basically a cold open for the series.
July 3, 2013 4:12 pm YES!! Animal Man has been really good again after finally getting out of Rotworld. The only problematic spot was the art but this definitely takes care of that. I really hope this isn't one of those situations where it's only three issues but they don't tell us that up front, I hope he's able to stick around for a long time.
July 3, 2013 3:59 pm I hope this gets PotW as a non-pull list comic. :)
