  1. Will we finally get a Blackbolt focus issue?

  2. I’d like to stick with this thru #12.

May jump off when Infinity proper starts.

  3. Still perplexed why Hickman is the one setting up the Inhumans mini-event and yet Fraction is writing it….So weird.

    • I’m not sure it’s that perplexing. Hickman seems to be very good about maintaining a balance between his creator-owned and work-for-hire projects. Assuming he’s staying on Avengers and New Avengers after Infinity, he might not want another Marvel book on his plate. He’s got East of West and Manhattan Projects ongoing at Image, Secret appears to be returning, Feel Better Now is still forthcoming, as well as God Is Dead from Avatar.

      That’s a pretty full plate.

    • And that happens all the time. Bendis starts something during his event, someone else picks it up and writers it.

  4. Deodato’s art has been great lately. I thought I’d miss Epting, and I do, but… Deodato has been exceeding expectations. I haven’t read much of his work in recent years, but in the ’90s I enjoyed his stuff. I don’t think he gets enough credit overall.

    • I miss Epting

    • I prefer Epting as well, but I’m really not sure where folks distaste for Deodato stems from. I just caught up with the latter parts of Bendis’ Avengers books on the Unlimited app, and I thought Deodato’s worked was really solid.

    • Avatar photo filippod (@filippodee) says:

I like Deodato (I even bought the oversized Dark Avengers HC) but I *love* Epting. Velvet is on my pull-list since its announcement.

    • No accounting for taste I guess. Deodato’s style while likeable at first just seems overly photorealisitic to me now. Always shadowy and noir, even in scenes that might do well with a brighter touch.

  5. I like both artist. Deodato is more stylized, but that’s not a bad thing. I may pick up this issue for the Inhuman appearance — otherwise, I’m not a fan of the Illuminti concept.

  6. Excited for some Inhuman action. Time to start buying this book though I’m bummed about picking up another $4 book. I’m actually quite a fan of Deodato since his Dark Avengers stuff.

  7. Tony Stark. The Watcher. A Body.

    Daaaaamn…

  8. Apart from the wonky ending involving Infinity this was a good script by Hickman. His Inhumans story is coming along nicely and so is the Namor/Black Panther standoff. Kinda have no idea what is going on with Stark but hopefully we get some explanation of that later. Deodato’s art was kinda rough if I’m being honest. Some decent pages here or there but not the best work by him if I’m honest. Shame too because he has been doing a great job the last couple of months for Hickman.

    3/5

  9. Very curious to see whats up with that big cosmic WTF other folks have been referring to, that seems exciting – plus the continuation of the Atlantis/Wakanda storyline. And of course the first taste of Infinity proper seems to start here.

Anyways, Deodato really rubs me the wrong way. What the hells up with the page with Medusa and Black Bolt in their place where they can converse? I mean, it looks weird to straight up draw Medusa naked, but just leave off nipples and a vagina and call it good. It’s like he didn’t even try to pretend that she was wearing some skin tight outfit like they always try to get away with.

As always I like the big events and ideas of Hickman’s but I can’t wait till Deodato is moved on to another project.

  10. So far this has been one of the most epic Avengers stories ever told. I really can’t understand why more people aren’t talking about it.

I think it may have something to do with the main Avengers title not being as good. In that way I wish this was the main Avengers title.

  11. Something about an army of Black Panthers shooting machine guns underwater seemed… stupid. Am I alone in this?
