Brilliant start to the finale.  The writers do an amazing job of juggling humour and sad sentiment moment-to-moment (Tobin's backup strip is actually the best at that).  The ladies' discussion of Hercules' sexual prowess was hilarious.

Can't wait to read this arc, especially after the preview; all signs point to greatness.

What would be #51 of this series is the 600th issue when you count the numberings of all the previous volumes, so they're restoring that.

"Captain America 601 (coming out in July with no extra pages) is priced at $3.99."

 Wrong.  Quoth the solicit:

"A special double-sized issue featuring art by the legendary Gene Colan!"

Anyway, good issue.  I especially liked his 18th birthday and the party at the end.

He doesn't think they're gods, not that they're not really powerful.

This has been canon for a while, though it's rarely touched on (for example, back when Warren Ellis was writing Thor in the early 90s, he included a snippet from a science journal that was speculating on the "true" nature of the Asgardians).

March 27, 2009 3:21 pm His ID's an open secret now; everybody basically knows it's him, but the law avoids him.
