I was pleasantly surprised. i think Daniel found a nice balance in terms of tone and story. Not too dark and twisted, but still contemporary. I do like how the violence was handled “off camera”….it was brutal enough letting my imagination fill in the blanks.

Its going to be interesting to see a creator handle writing and art duties on a flagship book like this. I hope he can keep it up.

One criticism of the lettering: The narration typeface is too small for digital reading. The font is at least 1-2 points smaller than the word balloon body copy and the leading (line spacing) is way too tight for comfortable reading. I think these types of things should be considered a bit more when creating one product that exists in both print and digital spaces.
