If I had to describe this book in one word, I’m pretty sure the word I would use would be gorgeous. JH Williams’ art at this point is so beautiful, so completely extraordinary, that it almost defies belief and renders any attempt to review it essentially meaningless. Suffice to say that there is no other book that looks remotely like this out there at the moment, and no other artist as bold, as gifted and as downright bloody clever as Williams.
I hope that the creative team will continue to mine the rich seam of supernatural action we see hinted at in this issue, as it is an aspect of the Bat Family mythos that is often undervalued or ignored completely.
With this book as well as Nightwing, Batgirl, Snyder and Capullo’s Batman, Tomasi and Gleason’s Batman and Robin, and the wonderful All Star Western on the stands, Gotham City is the place to be right now in the new DCU, and this happy Bat-Fan can only hope that the quality levels on all of those books can be kept at such an amazingly high level for a good long time!

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

  1. Given all the positive review I wish i cared about Batwoman but i don’t. She just seems like a totally unnecessary character.
