What's working so well for this series, beyond just the gorgeous art and creative layouts, is the character work being done. We're only two issues in, and the relationship between Kate and Sawyer is already full of potential warmth, as well as strife. From Kate's subtle interrogation in the club, to Batwoman having to rough Sawyer up at her apartment, there's a lot of tension between the women already. If the relationship continues to be handled so well, it could easily become one of the definitive comic book romances.
