RESURRECTION MAN #1

It’s the return of Mitch Shelly – and he’s still dead.

Resurrection Man can’t stay dead for long, though – and with each rebirth comes new and unexpected powers. But his many returns have not gone unnoticed, and forces are gathering to learn what’s so special about him – and to see which of them will finally stop Resurrection Man dead.

  1. Another “shot in the dark” title for me. Will I like it, or will it be one and done?

    • Ya same goes for me, this honestly was a super last minute pre order for me a few days ago just based off the fact my LCS owner praised the older series.

  2. I remember the character from back when I collected comics in the 90s and I remember liking *that* run. So, we’ll see.

  3. The first volume of Resuurection Man was a brilliant series. An under-read gem . I’m glad DnA have the chance for it to connect again.

And could the “Forgotten Heroes” return too?

  4. No cover hologram = no buy.

Just kidding. I have the first issue of the old series, but it was one and done for me. I have a feeling this will be none and done but I will give it a look.

  5. I read a little bit about Resurrection Man in another series in the past few years and cannot think of what it was. Shadowpact maybe? Either way, I loved the idea of new powers each death. This could be a great dark comedy/mystery story. I cannot wait to read it! Definitely a hardcopy buy over digital.

  6. Anyone remember the Resurrection Man crossover with Hitman? Great stuff. I’m giving this a shot.

  7. reading this just for Abnett and Lanning!

  8. IT’S ALL COMING FULL CIRCLE BABY!

  9. I may have passed this up if not for DnA, methinks this will be a far cry from Guardians of the Galaxy, but I’m intrigued by DC Dark, so I’m in for at least the first arc.

  10. Abnett and Lanning. I have no choice. Must buy.

  11. Rolling the dice on this one (“…come on 7”). Seems like an intriguing title.

  12. I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but it’s got DNA so I’m getting it.

  13. Out of all the relaunch titles this is the one i’m most excited for. never thought this series would get another chance. damn excited

  14. I cannot wait for this title! Perhaps the one I’m looking forward to the most. DnA back on one of my favorite comic series of the ’90s. It will be see what new is brought to the plate, and I hope many are trying it out.

A guy can only hope if sales on this are solid, maybe we’ll see trades or an Omnibus of the first run.

  15. This book sounds really interesting. Plus, I’ve been addicted to the DnA Legion books lately so I’m curious to see how they write a different kind of book.

  16. COME ONNNN I WANT TO BUY YOU!! WHY WON’T YOU LET ME BUY YOU DIGITAL NAMESAKE!!?! UGH 2PM. DIGITAL COMICS AREN’T IN PLACE OF PAPER ONES, THEY ARE IN ADDITION TO THEM SO I SHOULD BE ABLE TO BUY THEM NOWWWWW.

  17. Yes! This is what I’ve been waiting for: a DC Reboot title that I know NOTHING about, yet manages to hook me with 1 issue. This book was amazing…loved both the writing and the artwork…this is a perfect embodiment of the “Dark” DC Universe. Mr. LCS Guy, please add this to my monthly pull list!

  18. I read the original series when I heard this was coming out and loved it. Loved this too! I’m loving the DC Dark line right now.

  19. It was the names of DnA that caught my attention when this title was first announced, and the concept sounded interesting, so it’s been on my “to buy” list ever since . . . I thought that this was a solid issue, introducing the character, setting the story in motion, though it did not quite grab as strongly as say Demon Knights or Frankenstein did. That said, it was a good read and I’m on board for the near future. So, unless Justice League Dark disappoints, I’ll be buying all the Dark titles except I, Vampire (I’m a little tired of vampires at the moment, thank you). Good to see that all my excitement for the Dark line was not misguided . . .

  20. This is probably the book that surprised me most out of all I’ve read so far. I knew nothing about the character or the previous books going in, and it didn’t seem to matter one bit. Truly a solid #1 issue with a slick setup that was straight to the point, and I feel like I know everything I need to know to move forward with a story that looks like it’s going to be super intriguing. Oh, and the art is really beautiful and moody.

  21. This title was not only an introduction to Mitch Shelly, but also an introduction to DnA. In fact, I only yesterday figured out what the Hell DnA was…guess I need to brush up on my Fanboy Lingo!

    • If you haven’t read DNA’s Marvel Cosmic titles, definitely check them out (Nova, Guardians of the Galaxy, War of Kings, Annihilation Conquest, Thanos Imperative). You will not be disappointed.

  22. Excellent book. I wanted something that I was a truly new reader to so I picked this up and I’m hooked. great concept, great execution and exposition that moves the story along. A definite buy for #2.

  23. Liked this a lot more than I was expecting to.

I gotta admit. I wasn’t nearly as stoked over a lot of these “Dark” books as most around here when they were announced. I’m not generally into “Dark” stuff all that much. But so far, they’ve been the best of the lot. I think they are benefiting from the creators being allowed to work with a mostly fresh canvas. Where as even though the relaunch is supposed to be a fresh start for all the books, a lot of the more standard superhero books are dragged down by exposition and the need to reference the character’s past. The best books so far, have been the ones that have done that the least.

  24. There were a few bits where I “eh’d”, mainly the plane dialogue and the big bad (shit, that was painful).

But, otherwise, I really liked this title. I adore the premise, and I thought the scripting and art was tight. Sometimes the story was a bit too much, but otherwise solid. Definite pick-up.

    Does need better editing though.

  25. I have to admit, the only reason I bought this was I saw Madame Xanadu on the last page when I flipped through it at the shop. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it, but I’m willing to give the second issue a shot.

  26. I thought this was meh. Maybe I should have picked up Grifter as my final book of the week. Maybe I just bought it for the hot girls I saw in it. But some people really liked this, so that’s cool.

  27. Well, I liked this more than I thought I would. For the most part, I quite enjoyed the art. I thought it changed artists at one point, but I don’t think it did, so the art was a little inconsistent. I really liked the writing – well crafted inner monologue, nice set up, great ideas about the conflicts around the character. I’m definitely back for #2. 4/5

  28. I am about a 3 on this and see what happens for #2.

    Just sayin’,

    K

  29. I liked this book. Didn’t know anything about the character. I’m on board.
