The concept of Resurrection Man really intrigues me, but I could also see it being hard to make consistent. Still, this first issue is an engaging start. Mitch Shelley is already dead from the beginning, and making his most recent resurrection the first thing we read is wise. His inner monologue is good - maybe a bit brooding, but then, this is a guy who seems to have died several times. He doesn't seem to know much about his circumstances. We know even less, and the mystery is immediately compelling, especially because of a Quantum Leap-like "purpose" that drives each of Mitch's new incarnations. But this is very much in DC's "horror" area, and if there was any doubt in your mind, know this: this is not a feel good book. And, admittedly, the villains who hunt Mitch are a tad trite, but dynamically designed. Most of all, this has all the makings of a really cool dark fantasy series.
