Comments

  1. It’s a great week for a Birthday week! I got a big pile of comics to read and Thursday is the day I turn 23. I’m getting closer to become irrelevant to society!

    Action Comics
    Chew
Daredevil 10.1 (I’m not a fan of .1’s but Mark Waid and Khoi Pham is hard to pass up)
    OMAC (sniff…final issue)
    Swamp Thing
    Sweet Tooth
    Thunderbolts

  2. American Vampire 25, Avengers Academy 24, AvX 1, Brilliant 3, Fairest 2, i, Zombie 24, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man 9, and Wolverine and the X-Men 8 for me!

Really excited to have Bachalo back on WatX but we’ll see how many issues before he has like 6 different fill in’s like in issue 3.

  3. HELL YEAH #2
    ACTION COMICS #8
    ANIMAL MAN #8
    FAIREST #2
    SWAMP THING #8
    SWEET TOOTH #32

  4. A lot of books this week…

    AvX 1
    Animal Man
    Swamp Thing
    Ultimate Spider-man
    Amazing Spider-man
    Daredevil 10.1
    Wolverine and the X-men
and American Vampire and Secret Avengers that I missed last week.

This is a pretty good week for comics. WatX has Bachalo back so that’s pretty awesome. Looking forward to that the most. Also looking forward to AvX. Hopefully it will deliver. BQ: April Fools is dumb

  5. Holy crap! I love the Sentry. Did I miss that news release?!?!?

  6. Most excited for Wolverine and the X-Men, Daredevil 10.1, Animal Man, and Swamp Thing. I’m also looking forward to New Mutants quite a bit, I’ve been enjoying that series more than I thought I would.

  7. AvX
    Amazing Spider-Man
    Action Comics
    Wolverine and X-Men
    Age of Apocalypse

I feel bad not reading more indie books, but money’s tight…

BQ: I like some internet April Fool’s jokes, especially the one’s that sound very much real until I remember that it’s April 1st. Josh’s “resignation” was probably my favorite, and I was sad not to see any jokes on here this year.

  8. Flex Mentallo (HC)
    Avengers Mythos (HC)

I realise the info might not have trickled down yet, but wasn’t Daredevil: Season One supposed to come out this week?

BQ: I was in all day, but YouTube’s DVD collection gag actually made me giggle, as opposed to most websites’ “jokes.”

  9. This is it people, AvX is here!
    “AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!!!!!”

  10. So many great titles shipping this week, my wallet will not be thanking me though.

    ACTION COMICS #8 ANIMAL MAN #8 CASANOVA: AVARITIA #3 (OF 4) DAREDEVIL #10.1 FATALE #4 GLAMOURPUSS #24 IZOMBIE #24 SWAMP THING #8 WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #8

  11. This week’s comic offerings like a crack-a-lackin’ BULLET!!!

    AGE OF APOCALYPSE #2
    CASANOVA: AVARITIA #3
    SWAMP THING #8
and last week’s AMERICAN VAMPIRE #25 that didn’t ship!

How many POTW’s are we allowed?

  12. Getting:

    Animal Man
    Swamp Thing
    OMAC (final issue, sadface)
    Fatale

    Will try:

    Skullkickers
    Supreme (ALAN MOORE!)

    BQ: no thanks, no thanks.

  13. AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 (OF 12)
    DAREDEVIL #10.1
    INCORRUPTIBLE #28
    MEN OF WAR #8
    SKULLKICKERS #13
    WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #8

Picking up MEN OF WAR purely for the Frank story.

BQ: It’s the most annoying day ever.

  14. Austerity measures are making me cut back big time on my comics buying, so I’m forced to leave Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Action Comics and Avengers vs. X-Men on the shelf, but I will still be taking home:

    Daredevil #10.1
    Hell Yeah # 2
    Wolverine and the X-Men #8
    Fatale #4

I read Siege and Fear Itself in trades and enjoyed them more than I think I would have if I picked them up in single issues. Hopefully the same will be true with AvX.

  15. FATALE #4
    HELL YEAH #2
    MUDMAN #3
    AGE OF APOCALYPSE #2
    STORMWATCH #8
    SWAMP THING #8
    DANGER CLUB #1
    DAREDEVIL #10.1
    WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #8
    SUPURBIA #2 (OF 4)
    AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 (OF 12)

Very excited for the start of the Danger Club and also Age of Apocalypse…re-read the first issue and damn! That’s one fine book!

BQ: About 5 years ago I got downsized on April Fools which was very awkward as I kinda thought it was a joke turns out it wasnt….joke was on me!!

    • I too just re-read AoA and I am stoked. I just imagined Mark Waid’s Matt Murdock taking on his AoA counterpart and all I could think was how badly I wanted it to really happen.

  16. Hawk and Dove meet their end this week, Scarecrow keeps trying to scare the shit out of the Bat, Static is also on his last charge, Daredevil has the mob on his arse, Swamp Thing and Animal man jockey back and forth for the most pulls this week and which one really is better, Martian Manhunter, Apollo, and the Midnighter try to keep this title a float, Mudman #3 is finally coming out and looks like has the same release schedule as Penny for your soul; that would mean whenever; AVX #1 will continue where issue #0 left off and that was reeling us all into a honest to goodness Marvel series, Bleeze and the A-man begin their fight for leader of the RED LANTERNS and what will the new human be like in this group, Action still looks like a flop and Wolvie and the kids are on top. I still think the Mudman #3 is an April Fools joke, I did not even see it on the pull list??
Well thats what I am reading this week and I will say for me it will be a tight race for POW between RL and AVX.

    K

  17. Almost forgot Batwing will swing into my JLI and that may kill the entire title for me and Fairiest will be read and given a chance since issue one was very cool. Why oh Batman did you have to bring the Batwing over to our title, I guess thats his way of sabotaging the group. He did mention last month in the JL that they needed to be shut down or he would… I guess he kept his promise.

    K

  18. I’m getting:
    Action Comics #8
    American Vampire #25
    Animal Man #8
    Fatale #4
    Swamp Thing #8

BQ: I usually think April Fool’s Day pranks are lame and easy to see through. This year however there was something cool though called Dobber Island. These people made a whole webpage and video about this machine that floats in the sea and that creates islands by filtering plastic out of the water. The machine would create plastic bricks which form an island. The first one would then be in Zandvoort (a popular Dutch beach town). The video explains about the amount of plastic man creates every year and the big plastic soup in the ocean that stretches from Hawaii to Japan which is about the size of France and Spain combined (which is a fact). It really did sound like it could be true and also the creators create awareness of the plastic soup problem. Excellently done!

  19. Good week. Looking forward to W&TXM, Swampy, Animal Man, and Action the most.

BQ: Pretty lame April Fool’s for me. Nobody I know tried anything. My friends must be maturing. Which is kind of frightening.

  20. ANIMAL MAN #8
    AVENGERS ACADEMY #28
    AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 (OF 12)
    DANGER CLUB #1
    DAREDEVIL #10.1
    FATALE #4
    MUDMAN #3
    NEW MUTANTS #40
    O.M.A.C. #8
    SWAMP THING #8
    THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #683
    THUNDERBOLTS #172
    WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #8

I honestly didn’t see too many gags. Kodak’s kitten printer was funny though. Sony usually has something go on for a week or so in EverQuest, but nothing this year. Sucks, the year they changed the class names was great.

  21. Swamp Thing #8, Action Comics #8, Static Shock #8, Avengers vs. X-Men #1, Wolverine and the X-Men #8, The Amazing Spider-Man #683, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #9, Venom #15, Wolverine and the X-Men: Alpha and Omega #4, and Invincible #90.

  22. ACTION COMICS #8 x2
    SWAMP THING #8
    ANIMAL MAN #8
DETECTIVE COMICS #8 (Giving it one last shot with this new arc…)

BQ: I slept right through it! Nobody I know ever even tries anything.

  23. Very big week for me

AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 (OF 12) – Well, this is it! After months of build-up, the big summer event finally begins, and…I already read this issue! Thank you, LCS I’m not saying outloud! It was surprisingly good, shows a lot of promise, has great artwork, and Bendis won’t be writing the next half dozen issues, so I’m feeling really positive about this so far! Can’t wait til everybody gets their hands on it this week so we can talk about it, that’s really half the fun of these events. We do have an AvX thread, right? I liked the Schism one last year.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #683 – I’m kinda LOL about that new Spidey outfit, but this issue promises Spidey and the Avengers fighting the Sinister Six, with Stefano Casselli on artwork. It was like it was made just for me.

WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #8 – This is still one of Marvel’s best books, and I expect the same kind of balance between strong character work and comic book wackiness the series has provided so far. And did I mention Bachalo is back!? Because that’s kinda important.

DAREDEVIL #10.1 – I’m not a big fan of the Khoi Pham artwork for this, but he’s only drawing two issues, so eh. We get an issue with Daredevil every week this month, so I hope you guys picking this up plan on getting Avenging Spider-Man and Punisher this month as well, it’s a small crossover story between the three. Got a great creative team though, so it should be pretty fun.

VENOM #15 – As much I enjoyed the Tony Moore-drawn insanity of Hell taking over Las Vegas, it’s nice to get back to the main storyline Remender was doing. There’s something about following a character from the very beginning, to have read all his issues, from the main series here, Secret Avengers, and his appearances in Carnage USA. I’m just that much more invested in Flash and his strange, disturbing relationship with Venom, and how it effects him and his loved ones. There’s a lot of ideas and characters Remender has been building with in the year or so he’s been on the book, and it’s all about to explode in the “Savage Six” story arc coming soon, but this seems to be the calm before the storm. A good jumping on point, if you’re interested, I imagine.

CASANOVA: AVARITIA #3 (OF 4) – I think it’s been a couple months since the last issue, but I really don’t seem to mind. Every issue of Casanova is almost always the best book of the month, you can’t rush genius, baby. This really may be the best volume of Casanova yet. It’s so clearly auto-biographical for Fraction, he pours himself into every page, but it’s so much more then that, too. It’s cool, it’s funny, it’s weird, it’s brilliant, it’s pop comics.

FLEX MENTALLO: MAN OF MUSCLE MYSTERY – THE DELUXE EDITION HC – Oh. My. GOD.

    FINALLY.

I WILL OWN THIS AND CHERISH IT FOREVER.

Flash by Geoff Johns Omnibus vol. 2 is really tempting. I wish it included Ignition, because I really don’t care to buy the rest of his run after that. I think this is really some of the best Flash comics around. Breezy, accessible, fun superhero comics.

  24. Tis a good day when I see Swampthing and Animalman on my pull-list! Stormwatch may get dropped this week.

BQ: April Fool’s day pranks are harmless fun, as long as they stay harmless. in college, my guy friends would start prank wars and I would usually ignore them. Until they get my action figures involved, then I’m out for blood. I’ve returned to my room many a times only to find Captain Cold and Could Strife in some XXX positions.
Some of my best pranks were:
    -Jell-o in the toilet
-stealing the mattress off my roommate’s lofted bed.
    -mentos/diet coke bomb
-programming a universal remote so I could control the t.v. and dvd player in my guy friends living room and made them watch Twilight (they lived one floor below and across from me).
-Switched green tea ice cream with wasabi
    -salad dressing styling gel!

  25. A good week for comics this week. Lots to look forward to. The Flex Mentallo HC seems tempting, but I know pretty much nothing about the series and sometimes Grant Morrison just doesn’t work for me. We’ll if I end up getting it.

BQ: Not big on April Fool’s and neither is the wife. Actually had no idea it was yesterday until people at work were talking about it.

  26. Lots of exciting books popping up this week! And just when I needed a light week, too. Oh well. What hurts the wallet pleases the soul 🙂

BQ: April Fools Day is the one thing that could possibly make Facebook more annoying than it is. I ducked Facebook and the whole “holiday.” Though the San Diego Comic-Con Hotel Lottery surely did not! After I spent hours picking my hotel choices last week, I patiently sat by my laptop yesterday, waiting to get my confirmation email – only to get a “sorry, we couldn’t give you any hotel” note right at the brutal end. What an effing joke THAT was. They sure made a fool out of me.

  27. Light week for me.

Might pick up that Flex Mentallo Deluxe HC.

  28. ACTION COMICS #8
    ANIMAL MAN #8
    AVENGERS ACADEMY #28
    AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 (OF 12)
    DAREDEVIL #10.1
    GREEN ARROW #8
    JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL #8
    NIGHT FORCE #2 (OF 6)
    O.M.A.C. #8
    STORMWATCH #8
    SUPREME #63
    SWAMP THING #8
    THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #683
    THUNDERBOLTS #172
    WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #8

The best April Fool’s gag was when the BBC’s Panorama documentary series fooled an awful lot of viewers with a film ‘showing’ that spaghetti grows on trees. That was 1957, I swear I wasn’t watching,

  29. This is a solid but not exciting week, so I guess I most look forward to AvX.

    Action Comics
    ASM
    AvX
Batwing (OK, last issue for real this time)
    Daredevil
    Fatale
    Green Arrow
    Incorruptible
    Lone Ranger
    Ultimate Spidey

BQ: I’m not big on the day. It just makes you suspicious of everything. I appreciate a good joke, but sifting through a landfill of garbage to find a pea-size nugget of gold is something I’d rather avoid.

  30. Animal Man
    Action
    Avx
    Swamp Thing
    Supreme
    Supurbia #2!

  31. Answer: No one tried to pull any April Fool’s on me. However, I got pull some ones on my co-workers at the end of the day of work. So, yeah, it was fun…for me, that is.

  32. New Mutants, Venom and Thunderbolts are all double shipping this month and I could not be any happier. Now that O.M.A.C. has ended I will be pulling Red Hulk in it’s place. Marvel is easily pushing most of the DCnU books out of my pull list. I’m down to Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Green Lantern, and Batman.

    • With OMAC gone, my New 52 list is nearly the same. Just swap Green Lantern for Wonder Woman. I am going to miss the hell out of OMAC.

  33. Action Comics #8
    Animal Man #8
    Daredevil #10.1
    Detective Comics #8
    Ferals #4
    Justice League International #8
    Amazing Spider-Man #683

BQ: April Fool’s day has never really played a role in my life. Except for that one time Josh posted the article that he was leaving iFanboy. That made me sad 🙁

  34. This week I am picking up Animal Man #8 and Swamp Thing # 8.

I want to ask here though if I should go ahead and pick up all eight issues of O.M.A.C. since the series is now done. This is the one series that everyone seemed upset about being killed, and since my local comic store still has all issues stocked, is it worth cashing out and picking up the whole collection?

Bonus Answer: My old roommate played a joke on his at the time fiance about getting grease in his eye while frying eggs for their breakfast. She drove him to the ER, just to have his friends at the ER Waiting Room WAITING FOR HER to yell April Fools and throw plastic eggs at her.

  35. I think 6 comics is a light week for me;

    Action Comics 8
    Danger Club 1
    Hell Yeah 2
    Invincible 90
    Amazing Spider-Man 683
Avengers Vs X-Men 1 I’m only giving this 3 issues to impress me, otherwise I’ll drop it (and I’m counting issue 0 as the 1st issue)
Got American Vampire 25 last week and it’s a fantastic ending to the Death Race story!

  36. 7 good books this week and one that im dropping.

BQ: It’s usually in good. While I was never targeted for a prank the one I remember from sunday is Bleeding Cool saying that DC is using Kickstarter to have people fund a Stephanie Brown book. People were pissed in the comments.

  37. Still haven’t received Exile on the Planet of the Apes #1 yet, hoping to get that and American Vampire plus Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Daredevil, and the Flex Mentallo hardcover! Super excited to read it for the first time.

  38. Animal Man
    Swamp Thing
    Daredevil
    Fatale

April Fools is fun, but I rarely get involved.

  39. Animal Man
    Swamp Thing
    American Vampire
    Daredevil
    Fatale
    Wolverine and the X Men

April Fool’s Day…really have never been into it…although, my daughter not only short-sheeted my bed, but I also received won-ton noodles wrapped in a Reese’s wrapper…so as usual, kids change your perspective on things.

  40. Amazing Spidey
    Daredevil
    Hulk
    Ultimate Spidey
    Wolverine/X-Men

    Animal Man
    JLI
    OMAC (goodbye my friend)
    Red Lantern
    Swampy

    Invincible
    Mud Man
    Warehouse 13

BQ: A number of years back there had been a glut of films being produced (for tax reasons) in my hometown. One of the local radio channels decided to ‘April Fool’ announce that they were filming ‘Field Of Dreams 2’ and over 1500 people showed up at the minor league field in our area to be extras in a non existent movie. I was not one of them. I was filming an episode of ‘Medical Detectives’ that day.

  41. I went to the comic shop but I really didn’t get anything that was released on April 4th.

    Avengers VS X-Men #1
    Avengers VS X-Men Infinite

That was about it for 4-4-12 releases.

  42. Due to Budgetary issues i had to cut my pull list to
    Action Comics #8
    Swamp Thing #8
