A NOTE ABOUT THIS WEEK’S COMICS PAGE: We’ve got a bug in the system that we are chasing down that is keeping the new comics list from appearing on the main page and your pull lists from appearing on your user profiles as they normally do.
ANOTHER NOTE ABOUT THIS WEEK’S COMICS PAGE: There is an error with the new recommendation widget that we have installed on the website that is causing it to insert into the middle of the comic listings (as well as in the middle of user reviews). We’re working on getting it fixed.
Get to pulling this Wednesday’s books, and then let us know what you’re looking forward to most, what you’re dropping, what others should be buying and anything you’re thinking. Be heard, because we need you, iFanbase!
What are the iFanboys buying? Check their pull lists out here: Conor, Ron, and Josh.
And what about the rest of the staff? What are they buying? Check out their pull lists: Jim, Paul, Mike, Chris, Molly, Ryan, Ali, Chris, Jeff and Matt.
This week Josh Flanagan has the Pick of the Week!
Bonus Question: What was your favorite film of 2012?
BQ: Definitely The Dark Knight Rises followed by The Grey
This week’s comic haul is:
Superior Spidey
Scarlet Spider
Secret Avengers
Infinite Vacation (though I’ve totally forgotten anything about it)
Wolverine and the X-Men
And potentially:
TMNT: The Secret History of the Foot Clan
Thor (have seen nothing but unabashed praise for it, so feel I am missing out)
Film of 2012? Unsurprisingly The Avengers with Amazing Spidey a close second.
How about a fix to the Recommendations widget that makes it stop recommending Spider-Woman #1?
Comics? Who knows, I ordered them 3 months ago.
BQ – I’d have to say The Hobbit was my favorite, but I really don’t remember what else I saw. I thought the super hero movies were not nearly as captivating as The Hobbit was – DKR, Avengers were OK popcorn flicks, but nothing great.
I’m looking forward to Detective #16 the most this week. Layman has been great so far.
BQ: Favorite film of 2012 would definitely have to be The Dark Knight Rises. Django Unchained is runner-up.
My pull-list is as follows:
Animal Man
Detective Comics
Earth 2
Swamp Thing
Peter Panzerfaust
The Walking Dead
Fantastic Four
Superior Spider-Man
Star Wars
Secret Service
BQ: As of right now my favorite has been Django Unchained. Though I still need to see Zero Dark Thirty.
BQ: I only saw The Hobbit and The Avengers, and of those two, the Hobbit was the only one I saw in a theater. I’m not really a movie person. I’ll let you guys who actually like movies decide 🙂 And then I might watch that. Probably not.
9 Marvels and 2 Dark Horses
BQ: Moonrise Kingdom
Excellent call on Wes Anderson!
The best movie of 2012 was “Cabin in the Woods”. So says Doom!
Thor #4
Punisher: War Zone #3
Walking Dead #106
BQ: Still Avengers. I had almost as much fun watching The Hobbit but Avengers was just a better paced movie. Speaking of fun, have you guys seen The Raid: Redemption?
Nice little short image week with Clone, The Legend Of Luther Strode & Mind The Gap!
BQ- Amour by Michael Haneke
HOLY SHIT!!! Infinite Vacation #5 is out I didn’t know & its 60+ pages, GET IN!
I’m pulling 3-4 books but Superior Spider-Man is the only comic I’m really anticipating this week.
BQ: My top three is definitely The Master, Django Unchained and Moonrise Kingdom in some order. Probably Master at #1.
BQ: I’d have to say Argo was the best but Amazing Spider-Man is the one I saw most in theaters because i am, of course, a full grown adult.
BQ: From what I saw, a tie with The Avengers and Skyfall both being excellent.
Thor
Walking Dead
Star Wars
Detective Comics
Earth 2
GL New Guardians, very close to being cut after I dropped GL Corp after last issue.
I refuse to read Doc Ock Spidey, I just can’t bring myself to try. I read 700 and was bummed.
I tried Animal Man twice, it just ain’t my cup of beer.
wow small stack for me this week…Thor, Wolverine and X-men, Walking Dead.
BQ – Dark Knight Rises – because things don’t often work out for poor Bruce.
Something is funky when you click “Your Comics” at the top for the last few weeks. It’s taking me to last week’s pulllist instead of this week’s one.
See the notes at the top of this page.
Lol how do you miss the bright red font in the article at the top of the page?
Scarlet Spider 13
Secret Avengers 36
Superior Spider-man 1
Swamp Thing 16
BQ: Avengers
Absolute Batman and Robin: Reborn, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Star Wars, Peter Panzerfaust, Punisher: WZ, Thor: GoT. Great week ahead of me, even though the Absolute probably won’t arrive from amazon until next week.
BQ: Ahh, don’t know…Top 5 in no order- Argo, Django Unchained, Avengers, Prometheus, Lawless.
Earth 2 #8, Worlds’ Finest #8, Change #2, End Times of Bram & Ben #1, Point of Impact #4.
BQ : The Dark Knight Rises.
Looking forward to Thor, Star Wars, and TWD.
BQ: Tough one. Great year. There were a lot of good movies in 2012. I’d have to go with The Avengers, only because I’ll never forget the experience in that midnight showing. What a ride. Honorable mentions to Skyfall and DKR, both of which I saw four times in theaters.
I have to see Promethus, Argo and Django real soon…
I’m pulling one comic for the first time in forever.. Hopefully Thor is good! Looks like I’ll be catching up on my trades.
BQ: For a Good Time Call…
Yes?
Go on.
Who?
🙂
BQ: haven’t seen django or Argo yet. My top5 are Seven Psychopaths. Looper. Holy Motors. Prometheus. The Avengers.
Actually a awesome year for movies. Beasts of the southern wild, THE cabin in the woods, The Master, and DKR were also really good. Plus the best porno movie in at least 4 years came out in 2012, An Anal Tribute to Rube Goldberg Vol. 3: BILLIARDS.
Oh wow I forgot about Looper, I loved that one too. So top flicks for me would be Looper, DKR, Avengers and Skyfall.
BQ:
Batman vs. (fill-in-the-blank)? The answer is always Batman. DARK KNIGHT RISES. 2nd place: Moonrise Kingdom. 3rd: Lincoln. Runners Up: Argo and Django.
Still need to see The Master, Zero Dark and Skyfall.
Pulling Star Wars, W&X-Men, Detective, Walking Dead and Spawn. Teetering on the Batman & Robin Morrison Absolute. Can’t decide, but know I’ll regret it eventually if I don’t.
BQ: The Master. Surprised no one was talking about it, not even for the Ifanboy Media show.
Clone
Detective Comics
Dial H
Sweet Tooth
Thunderbolts
Getting:
Action comics, animal man, phantom stranger, swamp thing.
trying:
BPRD: the abyss of time, GL new guardians annual.
BQ: Django unchained & cabin in the woods.
I’m gonna miss Morrison when he’s off after #17.
BQ: The Dark Knight Rises
Action comics
Detective comics
Superior spider-man
Fantastic four
Star Wars
BQ: by far, the best movie I saw in 2012 was Butter. It isn’t even close.
This week’s pull list has me most excited for EARTH 2, and AVENGERS ARENA. But WALKING DEAD and ACTION COMICS will be waiting to make me smile, too 🙂
BQ: I really enjoyed ARGO, and I’m pretty sure it’s going to win Best Picture at the Oscars, and I’m okay with that. That being said? Some movies I loved just as much from last year are… CHRONICLE, THE HUNGER GAMES, THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, AVENGERS, PROMETHEUS, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER, LOOPER, SKYFALL, and LES MISERABLES.
Great year for movies… as well as comics, TV, podcasts, music… just like iFanboy’s year-end wrap-up podcast said. Thanks, 2012!
BQ: Seven Psychopaths.
This week’s haul:
BATWOMAN, VOL 02: TO DROWN THE WORLD HC
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: SEASON 9 #17
DIAL H 8
EARTH 2 #8
NORTHLANDERS, VOL 07: THE ICELANDIC TRILOGY TP
BQ: probably Cabin in the Woods, but I haven’t had a chance to see Django or Seven Psychopaths yet.
BQ: Moonrise Kingdom
Animal Man: Animal vs. Man (TP)
Wonder Woman: Guts (HC)
BQ: There’s a lot I still haven’t seen, but I’m going with The Dark Knight Rises.
A good week for me.
ACTION COMICS
DETECTIVE COMICS
EARTH 2
PETER PANZERFAUST
THE SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN
THE WALKING DEAD
BQ: Probably DKR but my 3 year old keeps me from seeing tons of movies.
It’s a strange Dark Horse only week for me with:
Star Wars #1
The Strain #10
BQ: The Perks of Being a Wallflower #1
Followed by:
The Hobbit #2
Django Unchained #3
Prometheus #4
Looper #5
Big week for quality books! A lot of these look great.
BQ: Seven Psychopaths or VHS. Both were really original and fun to watch.
BQ: Favorite movie was The Avengers closely followed by Skyfall. The “best” movie I saw was probably Argo.
-Star Wars 1
-Thor: God of Thunder 4
-Ultimate Comics X-Men 21
BQ: Tie between Marvel’s The Avengers and Les Misérables.
BQ: Argo by a very wide margin.
AVENGERS ARENA
BUFFY
DOCTOR WHO
EARTH 2
LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT
PETER PANZERFAUST
PUNISHER: WAR ZONE
SECRET AVENGERS
SMALLVILLE
STAR WARS
THOR
WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN
WORLDS’ FINEST
BQ: Avengers for sure. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked Spiderman. I thought it was tons better than any of the Rami movies. I didn’t see Argo or Django. I will say I haven’t seen a good Af-flick since Good Will Hunting. I hope you guys aren’t pulling my leg.
The Town was a solid B Af-flick. Argo is on my radar, I just can’t take another Boston toughie movie with the NE accent
Earth-2
BPRD The Abyss of Time
Cable and X-Force
Non-Humans
Repossessed
Savage Dragon on Trial
Spawn
Thor God of Thunder
Mars Attacks KISS
Adventure Time
Secret Avengers
Detective Comics
Superior Spider-Man (I have to see how this is handled plus Stegman’s art is great w Spidey lads)
Star Wars #1
Getting too many again but many I’m reading are minis that are almost over or just beginning, few are on goings that are ending and a cpl are one shots then a cpl are series I’m only reading the 1st arc or testing out (Marvel Now!)
BQ: DKR cause it went full circle with the 1st two movies, while connecting em all in the right ways, legacy, Gotham, what Batman stands for…while giving closure and hope for more at the same time. Tom Hardy made the instant all time best on screen villains list with Bane too.
Prometheus as well, it too connected the Alien saga while being a stand alone movie and going off in totally new directions while raising some questions and answering others.
Need to see Skyfall, Argo,Django and The Hobbit..really wanna see Seven Psychopaths too.
PUNISHER: WAR ZONE #3
THE INFINITE VACATION #5
THE TRANSFORMERS: REGENERATION ONE #87
It’s a light enough week I may skip the visit to the comic shop and instead catch up on the stack of stuff I haven’t read yet from last week. Home renovation, a major holiday, and reading are not the best of allies.
Punisher: War Zone has been a tough title for me. Rucka’s writing is top notch, but the art … eh. Dropping Earth 2. I *think* I missed an issue or two somewhere in the series and the book just isn’t really connecting with me enough for me to find out for sure.
BQ: Avengers with Django, Dark Knight Rises, and Skyfall in a knife fight for second place.
