Relentlessly funny and by the end, even a little romantic in the most inappropriate way possible. Tiny Titans style Superman…

November 23, 2009 4:47 pm It's fantastic, but rushed at the end as the length of the series kept getting short and shorter. The are and dialog make it easy to look past that though.

Hey, is it possible that some books are somehow getting ommitted from the lists you guys get from wherever you get them? I noticed that Terror Inc. #3 was out this week but wasn't listed. I checked retroactively and I don't think any of the issues every showed up. It's a Marvel Max title so I was surprised. Anyway, no big deal, just curious.

Also, I don't think they're promoting it terribly well so wanted to bring it up here - The Dark Horse series Rapture, the 2nd issue of which comes out this week, is drawn by Mike Avon Oeming and I could be wrong, but I believe it's new material. Worth a look if you need something to tide you over while you wait for Powers to come back.

@PaulMontgomery: Yes, Secret Six and Guardians of the Galaxy are written by different writers but Josh specifically commented on his dislike of certain types of jokes (every panel having a one liner being the example that springs immediately to mind) not just certain types of jokes as written by Gail Simone.

In the same way that movies like Royal Tenenbaums and The Squid & the Whale are by different creators but similar enough in sensibility/tone to warrant a comparison, I don't think it's unreasonable to point out the similarities between SS and Guardians.

I’m glad you guys did this, and don’t mean this to sound like a continuation of the give Secret Six a chance campaign, but I just wanted to mention that it surprised me to hear that Josh didn't go for the humor as I think it's exactly the same as what one gets in Guardians of the Galaxy, which is also a book about a group of nobodies that would sound ridiculous if one were to go over the characters/events (though admittedly, Starlord’s suit is a lot better than Catman’s). I would say the one-liner in every panel thing happens there as well. I recognize that there's something to the idea that SS is about villains and that that could be what makes the difference, but I just wanted to throw the comparison out there.

Anyway, kudos on the effort; it’s appreciated.

If Willis is sans whig for 75% or more of the movie, I'm in.

6. Why where there shadows of prison cell bars in a room with no doors? Also, when did Wolverine steal Sawyer's everyone-gets-a-funny-nickname super power? None the less, the Panda scene alone made this an early contender for pick of the week. Almost worth the wait...

The Mighty - Peter Tomasi writing and the guy from Dear Billy/The Dreaming/Starman drawing. I think at least 1 of you guys has mentioned liking one or both of these creators in the past.

Just an FYI about Phantom Stranger that you might strike your fancy - A three (or maybe four) parter starring him, Green Lantern, and Green Arrow just ended in The Brave & The Bold. Not terribly important, but pretty fun none the less, as all B&B stories should be.

re: #2 - Wasn't Raimondi back on the book recently, like 6-7 issues ago when that guy from the arctic, or something, showed up and tried to kill all the mutants because they were giving him a psychic headache? And if you'd like to see Calero on X-Factor, go back and give your post-Sook issues a 2nd look - he drew at least one arc about Syren getting kidnapped.

By the way, in the middle of the 2nd paragraph of my post, there should be a bit about how I take my comics to the bar so I can drink/eat/read at the same time and the lighting there makes glossy comics nearly impossible to read. Apparently I decided to delete that part before posting, which admittedly, was a weird decision.

re - Secret Six: Connor should try it out at the very least. I would think that a Batman fan would be curious about Bane as a pseudo good guy (with a weirdly sexual daddy/daughter relationship with Vandal Savage's kid) as well as a clever play on the Batman/Catwoman relationship in the form of Catman and Huntress having a fling that Batman doesn't approve of. Does that not sound like fun comicing?
