A review in five parts:

1. The story device, while completely unnecessary, doesn’t detract from the story, which is a nice surprise.

2.
There’s a character, who Marvel has mostly ignored for the last decade
or so, who is getting the crap used out of him right now, and he fits
in really well in this story.  I’m glad to see him coming back to
prominence.

3. What the fuck is up with Marvel and snow these
days?  Did they just figure out a new drawing snow technology, that
they feel the need to drop in every story they’re currently working
on?  I mean, it was great in Daredevil a couple of months ago, but
enough already.

4. Cross-hatching is a fine art that’s often
overused or used improperly.  I like it in this issue.  It’s not
subtle, but it also doesn’t hit you like Thor’s hammer.

5. Somehow, Mr. Fury, just because you despise me, you are the only one I trust.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 4 - Very Good

Comments

  1. ‘and now read in the silent spots’

  2. 6. Why where there shadows of prison cell bars in a room with no doors? Also, when did Wolverine steal Sawyer’s everyone-gets-a-funny-nickname super power? None the less, the Panda scene alone made this an early contender for pick of the week. Almost worth the wait…

  3. @MrBeebs: Good call on point 6.  I would totally read a comic book about Sawyer and a Panda, even if it was written by Peter Milligan, and drawn by Rob Liefeld.

    Don’t tell Josh.
