Even New Comics for 06/24/09 want to go digital

Get to pulling this Wednesday’s books, and then let us know what you’re looking forward to most, what you’re dropping, what others should be buying and anything you’re thinking. Be heard, because we need you, iFanbase!

What are the iFanboys buying? Check it out here – Conor, Ron, Josh and Gordon the Intern.

And what about the rest of the staff? What are they buying? Dave, Jim, Paul, Mike, and Sonia.

So it’s Dark Reign week, huh? Dark Reign Elektra, Dark Reign The Hood, Dark Reign Lethal Legion, Dark Reign Sinister Spider-Man, Dark Reign Zodiac. Not to mention the regular books that are tied in: Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers: The Initiative, Dark Avengers, Dark Wolverine, Ms. Marvel, New Avengers, Secret Warriors, and Thunderbolts!
And there’s something called Dark Avengers/Uncanny X-Men UtopiaMan, I’d hate to be a Marvel Zombie’s accountant this week.

This week Josh has the Pick of the Week!

Bonus Question: If your life right now were an event book, what would it be called?

Comments

  1. Yikes.  Another big week.

    BQ: Quest for the Couch

  2. Monster week, but hopefully they won’t leave me and go digital.

  3. BBBIIIIIGGGG WEEK…lots of Fraction Marvel goodness and several vertigo books.  Must admit I’ll be glad to see the end of the Fables crossover so I can drop Jack and just enjoy the excellence of the main book and it’s mostly great new direction.  2 more Bat releases as well, both of which I’m very intrigued by.  Can’t wait til Thursday..

BQ:  Well my back pain is playing up again this week, so dare I suggest Spinal Crisis?

  4. Avatar photo Paul Montgomery (@fuzzytypewriter) says:

Nice, small week for me. Most excited for Detective Comics and GL.

  5. Avatar photo Paul Montgomery (@fuzzytypewriter) says:

Glad I’m not a Dark Reign reader. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.

  6. Man thats a lot of Dark Reign, i’m dropping wolverine first class. the book is not longer fun to me, it’s just kinda boring.

BQ:             Bipolarity Ensues: So you want to date a girl you met at a bar

  7. 18 fucking books again?!  I like comics, but come on!

Also I’ve got the pick, so no chance of getting tired of reading comics….  Seriously, I’ll do my best.  I am a professional, right?

    BQ: THE QUEST FOR INCOME!

  8. Detective Comics #854

    Northlanders #18

    Proof #21

    Unknown Soldier #9

    Viking #2

  9. I got a fat stack this week.  10 if I choose not to get Gotham City Sirens, Runaways and Guardians of the Galaxy.  Otherwise, 13 big’uns.

BQ: Battle for the Remote (even though it was revealed at Newsarama months ago that my wife would win.)

  10. Amazing Spider-Man, Daredevil (finally), Nova, I’m really excited for Detective Comics, and even though it hasn’t been doing much for me, I think I’ll grab the last issue of Star Trek: Mission’s End.

  11. I’m only picking up Dark Avengers, Avengers Invaders (finally the last issue), and the new Empowered trade.

BQ: Hamlet 2: to work or not to work.

    BQ: Stack Attack

  16. *looks at tile for thread* Talk about beating a dead horse…

Getting: Gotham City Sirens, Green Lantern, Incredible Hercules, and Nova. Good mix of the big two this week.

BQ: There’s already an event based on me. Infinity Gaunlet. Little did people realize Marvel took a time machine, went into the future where I have conquered the universe with the Infinity Gaunlet, went back into the present (at the time), and got Starlin/Perez to write the biography out.

  17. Cerebus Archive #2

    Gotham City Sirens #1

    Madame Xanadu #12

Turok Son of Stone HC Vol. 2 (Though I won’t be getting this right now, I really don’t tihnk I can justify buying it unfortunately. it will ahve to wait.)

Excited for City Sirens, though. I ahve last week’s comics coming to me in the mail with this one so I also get Streets of Gotham, which I’m also excited to read.

And Madame Xandu is always great, and Kaluta’s art is quite fitting for the story arc since it instantly reminded me of some of the Sandman Mystery Theater art. Though Hadley will be missed much 🙁

  18. Shit, there’s like 15 fricken books this week! Gonna havta break the piggy bank for this week…

  26. BQ: Sanity Clause

  27. And this is the week I decided maybe I won’t read all the Dark Reign stuff. Nope, not going to even try!

Even still this week is massive for me, weighing in with 18 books, an omnibus and a hardcover. Yowza! Probably the biggest week in terms of the amount of books I’ll be buying that I can remember in a long time.

My most anticipated is definitely the Gotham Sirens Dini book. Looks great. Also, giving Dark Wolverine a chance…I KNOW I’m going to regret this. I just know it. Especially after Daniel Way’s most recent "contribution" to the title the past month. Dreadful. I really hope the book doesn’t stay "Dark" for too long.

    BQ: FML: 2009 Edition

  28. Finally, a week with more then five books.

And the Ultimates omnibus comes out? Well done Marvel, you shall have more of my money *clap, clap* well played indeed.

  29. Can’t wait for Detective!!!! The preview looked AWESOME, both art & writing. Plus Rucka’s run on Detective was classic & he’s in great form right now on Action comics. I have high hopes for this one!

    BQ — Infinite Puppy Crisis.

Go here to see my new pup, Baxter (named after Ron Burgundy’s dog) –> http://twitpic.com/80181

  30. I had 3 books last week Red Mass For Mars, Incognito, and Streets of Gotham. And since the week was so light I decided to try something new in Captain America #600. This week I have 13 books… way to plan ahead.

    Gotham City Sirens

    The Incredibles: Family Matters #03

    Huge week.

    Most excited for DETECTIVE COMICS.

Question, though: Last week, 2000 AD #1640 came out, yet it didn’t appear on the iFanboy list. This week, 2000 AD #1637 came out…what? I’m new to 2000 AD so I may be missing something.

    Can’t wait.

  34. Ouch. 21 books? How the hell do i need 21 books in ONE week? This is just insane. Oh well.

BQ: Because You Demanded It: Procrastination Man actually gets his Screenplay done! ‘Nuff said!

  35. BQ: Mundane-ville

  36. Last week saw the most books purchased by me in a week, 18.  This week, 22.  Christ on a cracker!

    BQ:  Pull List Crisis

  37. Oh, and apparently my LCS owner is "in" DETECTIVE COMICS as well. Awesome.

    BQ: Post-economic crisis.

  38. 17 books…mother*&#$@!  I hope next week is light.

BQ:  Aren’t You a Little Short for a Stormtrooper?

    Uncanny X ment #512

After having one book last week   I have seven this week which is heavy for me. I read alot of trades.

Can’t wait for Gotham Sirens. Hope it is not a total cheesecakefest. Not sure about Xmen/Dark Avengers  Utopia a chance but not sure if I will continue it.

BQ: The Wonderful Wizard of Odd

  41. Amazing Spider-Man #598

    Amazing Spider-Man #598

    Detective Comics #854

    Gotham City Sirens #1

    X-Men Forever #2

Freddy Jason Ash Nightmare Warriors Cv A #1 (OF 6)

I’m most excited about Gotham City Sirens!  Amazing Spiderman has been damn good lately too.  X-Men Forever is just dumb fun that I’m not gonna pay $3.99 twice a month for for much longer.  I think Detective might not be worth my $4 either.  I doubt my LCS will even get Freddy VS Jason

BQ:  Mystery Of The Missing Cat

  42. UNKNOWN SOLDIER!!!!! I’ll grow a long fringe and style it on an angle and mope around if this gets cancelled through low readership. Please don’t let that happen.

BQ: I’d be lucky if my life could inspire a oneshot even at the moment. Its so uneventful it would be a miracle if Squirrel Girl agreed to make an appearance.

  43. Nice sized week, glad I’m not reading Dark Reign.

     BQ: "Time to KILL"

  44. 9 books this week.  Ugh.  Haven’t even finished last week’s books.  Time to trim yet again.  Thanks for putting things out on time only in the summer.

  45. My comics of interest are:

    Green Lantern

Detective Comics(I loves me some JH Williams III art and Rucka ain’t bad either)

    JSA

    Last Days of Animal Man

    Usagi Yojimbo

    Daredevil

    Gotham City Sirens(Yay more Dini!)

    Superman

BQ: Crisis on infinte boring earths

  46. BQ "Torment the Cross of the Lion"

  47. Another monster week – just too much to pass up. Last GL before Blackest Night, Amazing (as always), Zorro (which I’ve come to appreciate after reading the last 6 issues in one sitting), Dynamo 5, 2 Bendis Avengers books, Proof (2nd issue this month, right?), end of the excellent Fables crossover, Daredevil, more Dini Bat-verse.

May pick up the Ash/Freddy/Jason thing – I’m a huge sucker for horror, and Evil Dead 2 is in my top 5 flicks, and the first mini was pretty OK. We’ll see – depends of if I want to eat this week – $4 buys a lot of noodles.

BQ: Identity Crisis – no reason.

  48. Most excited for everything Avengers-related and everything with "X-Men" in the title. Looks like I’ve got a $50 week ahead of me…

BQ: "The Aging Agenda" Getting old is really sucking.

  49. Definately a big week for me. I think my even book would be called Infinate Crisis.

  50. I don’t buy many issues anymore thanks to the constant release of trades and 6 issue hardcovers. This week, I’ll buy Daredevil, X-Force, X-Factor and Spider-Man/X-Men.

BQ: Hitting the Pages: Return of the Comic Book Addiction

  51. Nice looking week for me.  I can’t wait for the new Dectective, Dynamo 5, and Green Lantern.  Also, that Grant Morrison JLA HC looks muy bueno.

BQ: With moving, my job search, adapting to a new city/state, and my impending wedding (and the craziness of that there in), my event would be named "Glutton for Punishment."

  52. 22 Books? What?!? I really want to drop Dark Wolverine, but Giuseppe Comunculi is making it hard. BQ: Crisis on Infinite Train Rides

  53. Yikes here’s my list!

    Amazing Spider-Man #598

    Daredevil #119

    Dark Avengers #6

Dark Avengers Uncanny X-Men Utopia #1

    Detective Comics #854

    Green Lantern #42

    Guardians Of Galaxy #15

    New Avengers #54

    Nova #26

    Secret Warriors #5

    Thor #602

    Uncanny X-Men #512

    Wolverine Weapon X #3

    X-Men Forever #2

I am on the fence about Dark Wolverine, Dark Reign Sinister Spiderman and Gotham Sirens…

This is just way to many books for a week and I also need to pick up last weeks books!

BQ:The Quest for the 8th day of the week.

  54. The new issue of Skaar might be the best Hulk 616 action we’ve seen since the Loeb book began. I have three books on my pull list and two by subscription (which to me is an obnoxious amount. seeing that some people are pulling 15+ makes me dizzy). I MIGHT be willing to toss the extra grip for a good/decent Hulk story: Skaar vs. Hulk, Father vs. Son. Takes me back really. Memories..

Gee, nobody’s even going to mention Thor. Really?

    BQ:

    (1) World War Caulk – have you tried working with this stuff?

    (2) House of Phlegm – allergies are a bitch!

  55. 24 more books this week for me.   I still have around 10 books from the past 2 weeks to get thru as well.  I liked it better when I was caught up.  Kinda the same way on my podcasts.  I’m 2 weeks behind on everything there too.

  56.  I always pull Marvel last and after pulling very little from the indies and DC, I thought huh, this is gonna be a low week. Then came Marvel and…well fuck me!

  57. BQ: Clown in a Bottle

  58. Amazing Spider-Man, Green Lantern, Detective, Superman.  Still deciding on Dark Avengers and Teen Titans

    BQ: Same Ol’ Day

  59. BQ: Purple Reign

  60. I limit myself to 8 books per week max. otherwise I might have bought 12 or so this week. who made the cut? Amazing Spider-man, Dark Avengers, New Avengers, Green Lantern, Detective Comics, Dark avengers/ x-men utopia, GI Joe, Wolverine weapon x. ( sinister spider-man just missed it)

BQ: A Fridge too Far (yes, i know, simpsons rip off)

  61. Gotta say I’m iffy on everything ‘cept Amazing Spidey. The weekly schedule really has me hooked.

     BQ: Infinite To-Do List

  62. light week for me.

BQ: Hard Times in Laid Off Land

  63. Why are so many books missing their covers on the list this week? X-Factor, X-Force, X-Men Forever, Dark Avengers/X-Men. It’s rare for Marvel titles to be missing covers.

  64. @Noto: hmm…I’m noticing a trend that it’s all X-titles.

I got it! Josh and Conor tied up Ron in the basement and made sure no X-Men books had their covers this week!!! I’m calling the cops but if there is another explaination I’d like to hear it 🙂

  65. It’s a heavy week for me, 8-11 books total.  I am also trying to get caught up with Proof, Invincible, and Scapled in TB.

    BQ: A Backward Step Forward

  66. @TNC – There’s also the Sinister Spider-Man which has no cover. That’s not an X-book.

  67. @Noto: That’s where they want to throw you off….Trust me my theory is sound. 🙂

  68. Amazing Spider-Man #598

    Astonishing X-Men #30

    Berserker #1

    Dark Avengers #6

    Dark Avengers/X-Men: Utopia #1

    Gotham City Sirens #1

    Daredevil #119 (finally

    Green Lantern #42

    BQ: BLUNTMAN NOIR

  70. My pulls are Marvel-heavy this week, but I’m most looking forward to Detective Comics and Proof.

     BQ:  Obviously…. Slackest Night.

@robby:  Good luck with the cat.  Been there, man.

  71. Hey, is it possible that some books are somehow getting ommitted from the lists you guys get from wherever you get them? I noticed that Terror Inc. #3 was out this week but wasn’t listed. I checked retroactively and I don’t think any of the issues every showed up. It’s a Marvel Max title so I was surprised. Anyway, no big deal, just curious.

Also, I don’t think they’re promoting it terribly well so wanted to bring it up here – The Dark Horse series Rapture, the 2nd issue of which comes out this week, is drawn by Mike Avon Oeming and I could be wrong, but I believe it’s new material. Worth a look if you need something to tide you over while you wait for Powers to come back.

  72. Dark Avengers #6
    Guardians Of Galaxy #15
    Immortal Iron Fist #27
    New Avengers #54
    Nova #26

    BQ: Sleep Wars
