It's definetly diverging from the comics now. Not that means it's inferior, just a different interpretation.

However like most industries the best stuff is being made by the smaller companies on the fringes. That is the stuff that pushes the boundaries and challenges the status quo.
This is also true in the comics industry.

August 29, 2011 8:00 am I do agree that the latest Wolverine issue is a cracking issue and the gut punch reveal allows you to see the four preceeding issues in a slightly new light.
I disagree that it suddenly makes the other four issue good. I still think that this arc was a disapointment compared to the previous arcs.
Scott Synder showed you can do that kind of story in Detective comics while still making each issue exciting and nail the ending.
