In Memoriam: Carmine Infantino (1925-2013)
April 4, 2013 10:28 pm Truly one of my favorite silver age artists! I took a class on comic book illustration and visual storytelling that he taught at the School of Visual Arts many years ago. I was a mediocre artist, I just took the class to meet one of my idols. As a teacher, Mr. Infantino was rather a salty and grumpy character but a genius at layout, perspective, and pacing. He could elevate the most pedestrian story and make it more exciting with his illustrations. He made everything he drew worth reading. I am truly saddened by his passing. Rest in peace sir!

The Best of the Week in Panels – 10.31.2012
November 2, 2012 3:50 pm Can't wait to read Joe Kubert Presents. Is there any way we can get DC to make this the REAL Hawkman 52 reboot? Maybe the current Savage Hawkman crapfest is really taking place on Earth-Drek?
Also looking forward to Justice League Dark and Swamp Thing. As of today nothing has reached our local comic book shops here in South Jersey. Our local shops are realy hurting, they dedend on the weekly sales generated every Wednesday. The shippers don't know where the trucks are or when the books may reach us.
who needs gas, water or electricity? WE NEED COMICS!

Rob Liefeld Done at DC?
August 22, 2012 11:00 pm Now can we get a good writer and artist to restart Hawk and Dove from scratch and maybe a six issue story arc by Geoff Johns on Hawkman to get that book on track too!

WONDER WOMAN #12
August 17, 2012 4:19 pm LOVED! this book. The twist ending AND the New Gods too! Is this the start of the much hyped Trinity War? The old gods and the New Gods and the multiple earths hanging in the balance? Based on what I've seen in WW the past 12 issues, Brain Azzarello would be the perfect writer to reintroduce the New Gods back into the DCnU and Cliff Chiang would do some awesome costume/character redesigns. Anyway WW and the New Gods...YES!

EARTH TWO Looks Second to None
February 12, 2012 10:21 am I am more excited by Earth Two and Worlds' Finest than almost anything else in the DCnU. Please don't judge James Robinson by his recent work on Justice League but rather judge him on his extremely impressive body of work at DC. He clearly has a great knowledge, respect, and love of DC's rich history and I am certain he will do justice to Earth 2. I don't see why Earth 2 should be any more confusing to new readers than the New 52 is to us older readers. Just roll with it, it looks like a fun ride. It will be a great way to bring back some of my favorite characters that didn't make the cut on Earth 1. By the way, has it been established that current DCnU is Earth 1 or is it Earth Prime or maybe Earth 0? Just wondering. Anyway I'm looking forward to the new first meeting of Flash-Jay Garret and Flash-Barry Allen. It will also explain why Green Lantern-Alan Scott and Green Lantern-Hal Jordan have such different origins and power sources and yet have similar powers. And dare we hope for a return of a Starman? If so which one? Does anyone know if the new Shade miniseries takes place on Earth 1 or Earth 2?
Now being unencumbered by current DC continuity almost anything goes. Major characters can really die. The trinity in the cover image above does appear to be 2nd (or even 3rd) generation versions of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Batman doesn't appear to have a bat symbol on his chest and the daker "tuxedo" front appears to be "V" shaped like Nightwing. Superman looks very young. Maybe Conner Kent but I'm hoping for the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Wonder Woman might be Donna Troy or it could be Hypolita (she is immortal after all). I can't wait to find out. Hurry up May!

And WORLDS’ FINEST Looks Mighty Fine Too
February 12, 2012 9:26 am OK...I thought the boob window WAS her super power! Distract the villians and then easily knock them out with a simple girley punch. And are we absolutely certain that there isn't a triangular shaped boob window underneath that cape bib? Perhaps she only flashes the boob window when fighting villians but keeps it covered so that average people aren't accidently blinded by the splendor of her boosom.
Seriously though, I missed Power Girl and am glad to have her back in any form. Remember fan feedback got them to change Wonder Woman's new outfit before her first issue hit the stands. But since we are critiquing the new look, well it's just bland. The hair looks like Olivia Newton John circa 1985. The cape bib is just stupid looking...can we please ban cape bibs? (Including the new Earth-2 Superman redesign). And why is PG wearing Wonder Woman's bracelets?
I suspect this costume was redesigned by George Perez. I LOVE George's artwork but his costume designs are hopelessly trapped in the 80's. What I loved about Power Girl was that she dressed like a playboy bunny and yet she was easily one of the most powerful heros in the DC universe (male or female). She had the confidence required to wear a skimpy costume and not care who looked. I'm sure she would be equally confident fighting naked.
I think we need to get back to a more iconic look including the boob window, asymetrical short cape with some sort of epilet, baywatch style bare thighs, and buccaneer boots. I really miss the buccaneer boots (ya hear that Black Canary?).
Since this story may involve visits to other worlds as well as Earth-1 and Earth-2 maybe she will have different costumes in each universe as implied in the background picture of the Earth-2 costumes.
Anyway WELCOME BACK POWER GIRL WHATEVER YOU MAY WEAR!
