October 22, 2011 1:32 pm Eaglesham is great, but this book is bad. Issue #5 was laughably bad. Pak doesn't seem to understand his characters. They don't behave like Alpha Flight, they don't seem like Alpha Flight, and (thank goodness) in a few issues, this garbage will be done. The cover was a good indication that Pak has literally lost the plot. Better to let it die that continue in this state. Unless Byrne decides to write them again, I say leave them alone.
October 22, 2011 1:28 pm Surprised at the love here. Alpha Flight #5 was simply awful, in every respect (except for the art, which was a-ok). The story makes no sense, is totally stupid. The characters never act like themselves, and are pulled along at the whim of an incredibly stupid storyline. A cover with Alpha Flight all carrying guns? Alpha Flight robbing a bank? The writers have no clue about what their characters stand for, nor about Canada in general. Glad it's being cancelled if this is what they're doing with this once great team.
September 22, 2011 12:24 pm Wow. Words fail me. Between this and Spider Island, I have serious concerns about the folks in charge of Marvel "Events" these days.
September 16, 2011 2:19 pm I think you nailed it. The reason Action and JL are crazy good and exciting is because they're new fresh takes on old characters. GL seems like it's still in old continuity, nothing new, nothing fresh, same technicolor yawn.
September 16, 2011 2:17 pm If the "New 52" is supposed to be a jumping on point, GL failed spectacularly. This book would make almost no sense to a newbie. I think keeping the events of Blackest Night etc was a mistake, the GL universe is SO convoluted that anchoring it with the backlog is a weird choice. Oh, and Hal must be pretty awesome to make a jump like that, straight horizontal.
September 2, 2011 3:22 pm Wow. For me there were many "Hell yes" moments. The art on the panel where GL hits the baddie with the train. The Batman GL ring moment. Supes meets GL. Three off the top of my head.
September 2, 2011 3:14 pm Great combination. Everything to love about this.
September 2, 2011 3:13 pm Agreed. Spider Island is simply terrible. I'm done with this book. The ads for "J Jonah Spider-Man" represent a new low point for Spidey. Blech.
September 2, 2011 3:11 pm LOVED this series. The Writing, the Art, everything is great. Another vote for an ongoing.
August 19, 2011 12:18 pm I'm a big X-Men fan, but all of this looks.... really, really terrible.
