It’s hard for a book to recite its own tagline without sounding like a pretentious adolescent. I love the X-Men…

Okay . . . .  I think I’m done.  I’m not sure why this one tipped it for me, honestly. …

@PaulMontgomery  DAMN.  I did miss the last page!  Okay, got it now.  :D

Yeah, the art?  It's not to my taste.  I understand many people really like it, but I don't personally care for the kind of scribbly inking.  But I read comics for the character moments, not so much the art -- definitely my pick of the week, based on that.

September 10, 2008 12:06 pm In Minneapolis, Dreamhaven is the bazaar, and in Saint Paul the total comics store is The Source Comics and Games.  Geek nirvana.  I live three minutes from The Source . . .

I'm mostly with the Secret Invasion stuff, I guess.  Though Civil War: House of M and the Magneto limited look good, too.

September 4, 2008 5:59 pm This was pretty, and for the Hank fans I know it's a must-buy, I'm guessing?  It was solid.  Not amazing, but solid.
September 4, 2008 5:57 pm I really like all these stories -- and, as a way for Marvel to remind people of Magik, nd who she is, this makes sense.  That said -- I like the stories, but they are all reprints.  Not even a smidge of a six-page things to get us going.  Low blow, Marvel.
August 29, 2008 2:10 pm When you guys mentioned Deadenders on the podcast, I whooped in my car.  I loved that series.  I also liked "Chase" -- I can't even remember the writer/artist, but it was a lot of fun.
August 29, 2008 10:05 am @ohcaroline  I don't think I want *any* of my favorite characters as my friends.  Though I think i've dated Rachel Grey.  More than once.

Fantasy?  God knows, all my favorites are too messed up.  I don't actually *want* to be Jean Grey, or Rachel Grey, or Laura Kinney, or Wanda Maximoff.  No freaking way.  Fantasy?  I'd like to be Kitty Pryde.  Who *doesn't* want to be a genius semi-samurai superhero?

Reality?  I'm more like Jessica Jones -- a parent, an opt-out, kinda messed up but muddling along.

August 28, 2008 11:33 am @ohcaroline  Yeah, I know I've been kvetching for a while about this.  But this just . . . .   It really did it for me.  In a bad way.  Not going to list or spoil it, but . . . if this is the new In-Character for these characters, I don't need to buy the book.  And if this is Out of Character, then it's a crappy book and poorly written, and I don't need to buy it.
