This book is a big disappointment. Don’t get me wrong, it’s entertaining in an empty, easy kind of way. But…

This was a good week in comics for me.  I had at least three strong contenders for Pick of the…

January 9, 2012 7:19 pm I've heard good things about Gage, but I've never read his stuff that I can remember. He's been doing Avengers Academy, right? I've been following this series as long as I've been reading comics. But with Mike Carey ending his years-long run and such great stuff happening in books like Wolverine a/t X-men and Uncanny X-Force right now, I was looking at this as a jumping-off point. Would you say Gage is good enough that I should stick around just on the merits of his writing?
September 12, 2011 10:32 pm This cover is stunning. I like to read this series in chunks, but I just let the single issues pile up for a few months. The covers are just too damn pretty to switch over.
August 9, 2011 9:49 pm I guess I'm in the minority here, but I dig this Wolverine design. I always prefer artists who draw him short and compact.
August 9, 2011 10:21 am What about spider-man and the human torch?
August 4, 2011 7:37 pm I'm about 15 minutes in right now, where John assure Marty that his tangents are appreciated and he has the fan letters to prove it. I'm moved to back him up there. I love the open-ended style of this podcast generally, but Marty Pasko's tangents are by far my favorites. Bring this guy back as often as possible!
July 21, 2011 11:10 am More Marty! I'm lovin' the talks with this guy.
June 23, 2011 9:09 pm I was into comics, sci-fi, etc all through my teenage years and never felt persecuted or unpopular. Most of my friends weren't all that into comics, but we shared other interests. "Geeks" are nothing if not a diverse group, and while I get that persecution some geeks feel from being treated cruelly at that age, I don't think it should be projected onto everyone with "geeky" interests.
Comics are great. Everyone should read them. They shouldn't be an exclusive club. And if more people - "insiders" and newbies alike - are starting to realize that, I'm all for it.
June 14, 2011 7:34 pm Seriously? There are people in the world who want this book? I'm not knocking the creators - I like both of them - but if anyone wants to see Spider-Man teaming up with other super heroes there are (at least) four major ongoing titles for that, each with pretty great creative teams. This is just... way beyond unnecessary.
June 7, 2011 9:53 pm wow. I'm on these titles like white on rice.
June 2, 2011 6:55 pm I personally have no use for a digital version of a comic I already bought and very little interest in digital comics that cost the same as the print versions. That said, I still think this is a decent pricing plan. It protects the retailers a bit for the time being - and while that's not DC's responsibility, I actually still LIKE browsing a brick-and-mortar comic book store every week - and I just might buy some digital comics at 1.99 that I didn't want to shell out the cash for when they came out but have heard good things about since. Might.
