Great article, Ron! Nice haul, too. I ordered my SIP Omni and cannot wait for it to get hear. Also have the Surrogates HC pre-ordered from Amazon. Both look gorgeous!

I really, REALLY want to make it out to SD next year. Really.

July 28, 2009 1:13 am Monster week for me, but judging from how the titles I've pulled have recently been going, it's most likely going to be a 2 star, 3 star week with a few shining exceptions.

Glad to see a lot of the Mignola inspired stuff get recognized, it has been fantastic as of late with the spin-offs and such.

Some categories, as with any awards given, despite the medium, made me wonder what the hell the judges were on to even nominate some of these books, but for the most part, not as bad as previous Eisner awards have gone. Tons of books I've NEVER heard of as usual, and I tend to read a lot of stuff but that is to be expected.

Congrats to Morrison and Quietly for the All-Star Superman win. One of the best books of the past 5 years.

July 25, 2009 2:46 pm Marvelman Omnibus PLEASE!!!
July 25, 2009 2:45 pm I really need to read The Losers before this lands. Looks good. Looking forward to seeing what Jock brings to Detective. I'm a big fan of his past work.
July 25, 2009 2:43 pm Well, I guess this is one way to deal with the far-too-large roster JSA has had for the past couple years. I'll no doubt try both of these, but I really don't think I need to be reading two JSA books a month...

Screen is too small on my iPhone for me to take reading comics on it as a serious endeavor. I may grab an issue on it to try, but there isn't enough screen real estate to make it enjoyable for me. Now, if they had the ability to download a comic from an iPhone app, and read it either on your portable device, then sync it over to my PC and read it on my 22" monitor, then I could get behind it.

And yeah, $2 for a digital comic is $1.01 too high. I wouldn't want to pay over .99 for a single issue digitally. Also, and this is a minor gripe, but with this company banking on people downloading their App and buying books through it, I am surprised they are charging people for the app on the iTunes store and not just giving it away. Granted it's only $1 but still, it's just the principle of it. A lot more people may try this out if the app were free, thus making them more money in the long run.

July 22, 2009 10:34 am Great tips. Every year when SDCC is rolling around, I always say to myself, "maybe next year...". I'd love to go, but it's just not financially in the cards for me any time soon :(
