May 15, 2013 10:14 pm I've been thinking about dropping this after not enjoying the last couple issues. I was gonna wait and see how the new writer was. God, this issue was TERRIBLE. I'm completely baffled by the high ratings it's getting on here.
February 26, 2013 8:04 pm I flipped through issue #3 at my LCS and thought it looked great, but I couldn't find copies of the first two issues anywhere. I didn't want to buy just the last few issues of a mini if I couldn't own the whole thing. Part of the problem with indie comics isn't just that readers are oblivious to them, but that stores are really conservative about how many issues they order and they immediately sell out, so even some readers who would like to read them can't find them. I find that whenever there are indie comics I want, I have to buy them the Wednesday they come out. If I wait even a few days they're gone.
February 4, 2013 7:07 pm I'm not familiar with Andrea Sorrentino's work but I googled it and it looks like she specializes in horror art. Is the plan for Lemire to turn another superhero book into a horror book (a la Animal Man)?
January 31, 2013 2:58 am I felt exactly as you did about the first issue, and, sorry to say, I didn't like this issue much better. I only bought it because my wife is also reading it and wasn't ready to give up. Her comment on this issue was "I think maybe more will happen in issue #3." So I take it she wasn't too impressed by this issue either.
January 24, 2013 9:50 pm I bought this because I wasn't sure if it was required reading for the crossover or not. It isn't. Just a bad, pointless, five dollar ripoff.
December 30, 2012 8:10 pm I bought this and read it after seeing the movie, and I thought it was pretty bad. Aside from the art being generic and mediocre, the movie's script doesn't work very well in comic form (especially the humor, which is completely lost.) I bet this only got such high ratings from people because they were reading it before seeing the movie. Oh, also, it hardly has anything that isn't in the movie, at least in this first issue. A few extra lines of dialogue here and there. Actually, in a few cases the extra dialogue pretty much ruins scenes that were much better in their revised form in the movie (the scene in which Django picks out his clothes, for instance.)
December 17, 2012 7:27 pm I'm surprised to hear that this artist is so highly regarded, considering the preview looked pretty mediocre.
December 4, 2012 9:05 pm Wow, if I thought it looked like Prophet or Planetoid, I would be way more excited about it. How could there be too many of those? After reading the preview, my reaction is more like "Really, another comic book with a shallow American-mass-media take on the sociopolitical situation in which everything wrong in the world is simplistically blamed on the greed of rich people and corporations, as if middle-class consumers share none of the responsibility? ANOTHER one?" I might pick it up though, after I see more than just the prologue.
October 17, 2012 8:31 pm Turned out my LCS had a huge stack of them. I guess they didn't mind paying the 50 cents each for the hundred copies they had.
October 16, 2012 1:33 am So, it sounds like various LCS are handling this each in their own ways? Am I being naive in thinking that I'm going to walk into my LCS and find this "free" comic that I've been hearing about for months? Should I have pre-arranged to have one ordered for me or something?
