    1. Criminally low pull counts for a truly brilliant title.

      • Welcome to the world of Indie comics.

      • I flipped through issue #3 at my LCS and thought it looked great, but I couldn’t find copies of the first two issues anywhere. I didn’t want to buy just the last few issues of a mini if I couldn’t own the whole thing. Part of the problem with indie comics isn’t just that readers are oblivious to them, but that stores are really conservative about how many issues they order and they immediately sell out, so even some readers who would like to read them can’t find them. I find that whenever there are indie comics I want, I have to buy them the Wednesday they come out. If I wait even a few days they’re gone.

      • Or get them in trade, which doesn’t help monthly sales, but I bet most Indie comics rely a lot more on trades than single issues.

I’m the writer on “Witch Doctor” — and you’re right, there’s no money in single issues for us unless we were to add several thousand more orders for each issue. But we *do* get money from the trades!

(Still, I encourage people to buy the singles. backseatastronaut, I’m sorry that happened at your store — but if you’re interested in tracking down earlier issues of a series with minimal effort on your part, most stores will order an earlier issue of a title if you ask them. The catch is the issue still needs to be available from Diamond, and still be in print!)

Thanks all of you for supporting our title! 🙂
