I'm the writer on "Witch Doctor" — and you're right, there's no money in single issues for us unless we were to add several thousand more orders for each issue. But we *do* get money from the trades! (Still, I encourage people to buy the singles. backseatastronaut, I'm sorry that happened at your store — but if you're interested in tracking down earlier issues of a series with minimal effort on your part, most stores will order an earlier issue of a title if you ask them. The catch is the issue still needs to be available from Diamond, and still be in print!) Thanks all of you for supporting our title! :)

July 3, 2012 4:29 pm MonkeyBrain is 100% creator-owned and 100% creator-controlled — which means that the creators themselves are the ones determining how they're going to format their stories. I also found it interesting that everyone in the launch group did stories in a standard comics format — but that's not going to be the case in every story. For instance, the stories I'm writing for MB are specifically written to take advantage of the dimensions of monitors and the kind of storytelling effects you can do in digital that you can't do it print. (The complicating factor here is that most or all of the people doing stories for MonkeyBrain are trying to produce work that can potentially later be collected in print, which limits the flexibility of format.)
