I loved this issue.  I completely agree with glwarm that nothing happened, but it just felt like the perfect transition from Dark Reign into something new.  It wasn't drastic, it wasn't full of action, it was just a reflection on what had happened and thoughts about what might happen.  Really sentimental, could have been hokey but I thought it straddled the line pretty well.

After Siege which felt too abrubt and Fallen which felt...good but just kind of there, this was that easing out of Dark Reign into the Heroic Age that I was hoping for.

May 11, 2010 12:22 am @edward: I don't have any faith in Morrison, so yes, the only reason I'm excited is Batman hitting a caveman in the face.  On the bright side, it's going to be hard for me to be let down by this issue.

@CAM I want to say that my favorite issue of the series was actually one of the non-Dini ones (I want to say it was issue 4, the one that focused just on Riddler).

A few misses along the way, but mostly hits and this is a book that I can't bring myself to stop reading.  This issue was really good too although I would have liked a couple issues on Poison Ivy on the job before the ending part actually happened.

I didn't have any idea what was coming until the conversation with Zatana and WW in the bathroom and the dinner scene, and suddenly it was just a sense of dread leading up to the ending.

 Tremendous issue.  Granted, it's the first book I've read this week but it'll be tough for anything to pass it for POTW...maybe GL...probably not.

@oh caroline & amircat

 Alright.  If we get Avenger's Daycare with Cable just watching a whole bunch of the Avengers' babies, I will buy every issue of that book at cover price.

February 15, 2010 9:48 pm I've got a good feeling about this.  Two issues ago, Black Panther was fantastic and last issue got me hyped for this (even if it wasn't that strong on its own).  The one thing I want is the Fantastic 4 to take the back seat in this one.  Let the Panthers shine.
February 14, 2010 10:52 pm This continues the new trend of every other Batgirl (3, 5 and now 7) getting POTW.  Just a tremendously fun book and, after Red Robin (my POTW last week), I can't wait for the crossover.

The past two issues have been really good.  I've got relatively high expectations for this one which means it's going to be a letdown, becuase that's how Chris Claremont treats me.

February 1, 2010 7:12 pm I know it's not a reason to keep buying, especially after the first issue was pretty ho-hum, but the new game is so great I'm picking this up.  Damn you cross-promotion (...kind of)!

I can't fathom the outrage over the promotion.  Marvel's taking products that are taking up space off of ratailers' hands and giving them something they can charge good money for.  Assuming that they have 50 copies of Booster/R.E.B.E.L.S./Doom Patrol (All B-titles at best, and that's not a shot at quality but the major reason retailers would have bought a ton of them is the rings, not the books) they'll probably go into $1-$.50 bins.  You'd have to think a cover this rare will appeal to variant fans/Deadpool fans enough to spend at least $51 dollars on the book which means the store is making a profit on the deal.

I'm taking this idea from another podcast, but once the cover's off just donate the books to a children's hospital or a charity of some sort.  It's good PR for the store and they can make more money off a single variant which will take up far less space than 50 issues of books that may or may not sell.

 As for the actual cover...meh?  It was announced that it would be a Deadpool cover so I'm not sure what anyone was expecting.  If people want to get offended by Deadpool being a rapper, fine, but there are so many more important things to be outraged by that I can't really muster much.  It's not really funny, but if it makes a LCS money then whatever.
