Killjoys is a delightful cavity. It’s sugar soaked, color coated, vibrant entertainment at its best. I’m really digging the amount…

If you were able to skim the issue yesterday (and hopefully pick it up) you’ll have noticed the nice glossy,…

Aside from loose knowledge of the character and a viewing of the hollywood adaptation years back, I didn’t have much…

July 8, 2013 6:35 pm Definitely with USPUNX and Riley as well. It's just a different technique in terms of writing, especially when applied to Hickman's mythology heavy prose. It's a story that deserves to be spread out methodically and not rushed to get to the action bits. I'm loving this series but I'm finding the complaints to get a little old. After 2-3 issues, people should know what they're getting into, nor do they need to pick this title up just to complain about how it's not what they'd hoped. There are so many comics to be read, if you don't like it, dump it.
June 27, 2013 3:29 pm I'm a huge fan of Quitely, just finally picked up a physical copy of All-Star Superman and I'm loving it all over again. And like you Millar is firmly hit or miss in my book (you pointed out his best books quite well). I read the first issue and it was one of those titles where I felt like I hadn't gotten much out of the content. The book is packed with a lot of stuff yet I came away feeling like I hadn't had enough to grasp onto which a lot of titles these days make me feel. Is it worth picking up the second issue? Is there more to like here?
June 13, 2013 6:20 pm Totally agree, this series is absurdly fun and entertaining around ever corner. Wish more people were reading it, seems like Hickman is one of the only writers these days that rewards his readers by never taking their intelligence for granted.
June 7, 2013 12:13 pm For some reason I'm unable to reply to your response, but once again I agree. I love that my hand isn't being held through out each issue. None of the characters we're introduced to are outsiders to this world, so it feels natural that we don't get a step by step examination of all the components. Things simply are the way they are, and there's almost the encouragement to personally add to the mythology of how things came to be. And I love that we're getting the methodical reveal of what went down ten years prior to the current story line. There's an urgency and intensity to the build up. The naysayers shouldn't be able to complain either, especially with this issue which slowed the pace slightly and filled in some blanks. Like I said, after that final page, I cannot wait for the next issue.
June 7, 2013 1:09 am I completely agree as well. I know some people have been complaining about how slow the pace has been moving from issue to issue, but I couldn't disagree more. I picked it up today, and practically forgot it was only issue 3. It's packed with so much atmosphere, terrific dialogue, and absolutely astounding artwork that I could have sworn we were five issues deep. I eagerly await this title from month to month, and it's practically the first comic I dive into on the weeks its released.
May 23, 2013 3:34 pm I realized I'm a little harsh on Stegman, who is actually a decent artist. I enjoy his pencils more than the finished product, which might just be a case of poor inking.
May 11, 2013 8:46 pm He's the definitive voice across all mediums when it comes to Batman.
May 9, 2013 7:32 pm Fuck, I'm incompetent and can't even read that there's a reply button. Anyway, the post below is my response. Thanks again for reading.
May 9, 2013 7:28 pm Thank you! I just joined the site recently and decided to make the leap and start reviewing titles on a regular basis. As my introductory Batman review on the site I decided to write a little more than usual. Although having been a fan of the character since I was 5, this was a slightly restrained ramble on my part. Can't wait for what comes next in Zero Year. From the looks of your pull list we have similar tastes (including an attraction to great and stylized art), so I'll be watching for your reviews. Cheers.
May 5, 2013 2:39 pm Agreed, this issue is a triumph. I don't remember the last time I've read a book where the titular character gets thrown through the ringer and I've actually been scared for them. It's a testament to the perfect harmony that Samnee and Waid have struck on this title. Cannot wait for next month!
