Conor, I had the exact same "ok, so where's the two-page spread of the view?" reaction. I think that was in the script, but Land said "that sounds hard." He said the same about drawing faces on people who were far away.

In terms of romantic relationships, I think I agree with Talia, love Zatanna the best in principle, and I did like the pseudo-pairing with Wonder Woman in the JLU cartoon but not so much in the comics.

But in terms of life partner, there through thick and thin, loves you warts and all? Alfred. And I'm not saying that in the "Batman-is-gay" way, or even in the Alfred-as-father-figure way. I think that while Bruce will fool around and get his kicks and have star-crossed romances with women the world over, Alfred will be the person who fulfills the lifetime commitment need, who he always comes home to.

July 21, 2008 10:46 pm Not only is Eddie Vedder from San Diego, he went to my high school. Until he dropped out. We used to ask my government teacher about him, and apparenty he sat in the back of class and never talked. Go figure!
July 18, 2008 5:43 pm Reed effing Richards. Seriously, I'd love to see how the FF, not to mention the rest of the MU (and its writers) who go to him when they have no other ideas, would soldier on after his demise. Also, he's such a tool. I know he's currently stretched out in a million pieces in Secret Invasion, but obviously he'll make it out fine, boo.
July 17, 2008 9:11 pm We were also discussing on our show the remarkable intertia of Secret Invasion, and decided that "the Skrulls have been hiding in society for a while, and now they're invading" is a complete synopsis so far, halfway through. If that holds for the next four books as well, oy.
July 17, 2008 11:29 am Hey guys, just wanted to respond to the "Liz is having twins!!11!" thing. As Ron (I think) said, it would have been retarded and gimmicky in general--but has more weight and justification in this movie, in which a key plot point involved a set of twins who share a mental and physical link. Given the crap that this link caused throughout the story, Hellboy would have a lot more reason to be freaked out than just "oh no, two babies." It still wasn't genius or anything, but not quite at "Cocktail" levels of lame.

I just wanted to lend my sympathy to Josh's Millar issue, I have the same one. Buy everything, want to love it, get slightly rubbed wrong all the way through. I am liking 1985, but Kick-Ass doesn't really.

Also, @DoctorColossus: I am the biggest Runaways fan there is, and Whedon's run was a rather large disappointment. Too many irrelevant new characters, a convoluted storyline, publication delays that made it near impossible to follow. Great dialog and grasp of the characters, but a miss on many other levels. And nothing happened that is crucial for moving forward. Just jump back on with Terry Moore.

July 6, 2008 9:24 pm I love the art in BTAS, but for pure entertainment value I've gotta go with JLU and Batman Beyond (oh, Terry, Terry). The "Great Brain Robbery" episode of JLU, where Wally West and Lex Luthor switch brains, has to be the funniest 22 comic-related minutes in creation. I nearly cried when I got through both DVDs.

I love the years and years of back story that screw with your mind even after researching them for days (seriously, I do love that).

I love that I can talk about comics with my husband for hours and hours and never get bored (awwwww).

I love that after three years of being a newbie adult comics reader, I'm now on top of things enough to explain them to other people (sometimes).

I love... also Batman.

I love that my fortuitous photo with Stan Lee at NYCC made me hyper for a week.

I love Gail Simone and Greg Rucka, even if I missed their WW panel in Chicago last weekend.

I love that I did however get to interview Gail for my actual job.

I love finding out how many other people secretly love comics.

I love Booster Gold.

I love that tomorrow I will get to eat ice cream and read a new comic at the same time.
