I’ve been quite entertained so far with Secret Invasion, Mighty and New Avengers. To be honest I couldn’t really see the awfulness I’d been hearing about online (but mostly from conor and ron).

But i gotta tell you. I hated this issue. Sentry is such a bland character. How can schizophrenic come off as bland? You got me. I am just NOT interested in Sentry as a character. Is anyone? Maybe I need to read the original series with art by Jae Lee. At least the pictures would be pretty. I think the sentry is the kind of character who needs some dynamic art to make his story interesting. Koi Pham? He’s good technically, but compared to some of the other artists on both Avengers books I’d say meh. I don’t like how his figures look. And too many lines. Might be the inker though.

Liked the cover though. One of my all time favourites from my childhood. Though I’d say the Skrull parody is going to wear thin faster than the Zombie redoes.

Anyway, I didn’t even realize how much i hated sentry until this very issue. I’ve only been reading buying both Avenger books since after Civil War, and I haven’t read much about his. I liked his New Avengers Civil War story. It had fantastic art and was on the moon with the inhumans for God’s sake. I mean how can you fuck that up.

Yeah, just fly into the sun already. Please.

And Jarvis as a skrull? Don’t know why, but it really irks me. That whole creepy cheerful pleading to help conversation with Tony Stark? Jesus. I hope they kill Jarvis Skrull.

I’m also really curious how they’re going to deal with the aftermath. I mean, just Jarvis come back? Isn’t Bendis supposed to do a Spider Woman book with Maleev after this? Hm.

I’d kind of like it if Mockingbird was back.

So my first disappointed with the Avengers and Secret Invasion. I’ve really been liking what Bendis has been doing with the Marvel superheroes. It’s fun. I’m still on board, but he’s got to make up for this issue.

Brian Bendis please don’t focus any more on the Sentry. I had enough of him in WW Hulk. He bugged me there too.

I’m rating this 2 for story and 2 for art because I felt there were some interesting elaborations on just how active the skrull-moles were. And to clarify that the Queen is indeed posing as Spider-Woman. Holy shit. More on her.

And 2 for the art because I think the artist might be better on another book. Just not this one please thanks.
