I’ve not read a Green Lantern comic since the end of Blackest night, but in the spirit of the relaunch, I gave this new #1 issue a shot. First, Mahnke’s are was very good. I’ve enjoyed how his style has developed from his early issues on the title. Both Sinestro, Hal, and all the side characters look fantastic throughout the book. That being said, I found the story to be a little less than satisfying. Though it is a departure from Johns previous story that seemed to go on for years, I found the pacing to be rather scattered, especially the final page that seemed to come out of nowhere. I will give this book a second issue before making my final judgement on whether or not to drop it. I just hope that Johns finds his footing or allows the emerald torch of the Green Lantern to be passed to a fresher pair of eyes.

  1. That 2 on the Art rating should be a 5. My bad.
