  1. Loved issue one, bring it on!

  2. Agreed. Thought this was the best issue 1 of all the new avengers titles.

  3. This is the Avengers team I wanted since the Heroic Age start. Last issue was a surprise but loads of fun. Can’t wait to see this issue.

  4. Brubaker is the man, the myth, and the legend.

  5. As in sometimes he is the man, sometimes he is a myth, and sometimes all his great stuff was in the past and is now only legend.

In all seriousness, I have not been loving the Brubaker of late, but this series had a great issue 1. Definitely the best of the Avengers explosion. And I like Deodato, who I know is not universally adored, so this is definiitely shaping up to be a great new series.

  6. Issue #1 was good.  I think Edward or someone made a point though.  That Brubaker’s stuff seems fun, with the phenomenal art and all.  By the time you get to issue #5, you look back and see the plot is convoluted and ridiculous.  That was every issue of Daredevil.

Hopefully this turns out great, since Deodato is a prodigy on art.  I’m hoping for the best here…don’t let me down Bruski!!!

  7. This is what the Avengers should be. Not all the big names. The right people for any job.

  8. Avengers Academy < Avengers < New Avengers < Secret Avengers

Such is the way of things.

  9. Academy has potential, I love Gage but I doubt it will be great in the introductory arc.

  10. @casey I can go along with that assessment.

  11. This is, so far, the best Avengers book on the market–totally can’t wait for this issue. 😀

  12. issue 1 was awesome…. hopefully this series can justify all the secrecy that the team supposedly needs.

  13. This is gonna be the best avengers of all. Let’s keep it secret.

  14. The first issue was ehhh! Honesty I could live without this but since it’s brubaker I will give it an arc

  15. @ CaseyJustice  Hmmm… I think my rating would read like this

New Avengers = Thunderbolts < Avengers < Avengers Academy < Secret Avengers

  16. Brubaker never stopped being great.

    jeff.

  17. Too early to tell which is the best Avengers book, needs at least 2 issues.  That said, the best Avengers book will in fact be a Bendis Avengers book.

Millar’s Avengers right now is incredible though.  Ultimate Universe.

  18. I am still debating which Avengers book to follow, I cant afford all 3… right now, I think New Avenegrs is in the lead but it wil take the first arc of each to convince me.

  19. Between Roxxon, The Serpent Crowns, the pre-celestial referense(and the carving of the axe wielding celestial in the Mars cavern) Worldmind/Novaforce, Khonshu and all the great characters like Rogers, McCoy, O’Grady and the other Nick Fury, this series is full of awesome plotlines and, for me, is the Avengers book to read.

And the cover for issue #4 is Rogers putting on Nova’s helmet. I don’t know if this is for real but it would be the coolest thing ever.

  20. This issue was a bit slow in pacing, but it was still fun to read. I second (or still will continue to say) that this is the THE Avengers team to read. I’m loving the dynamic between Ant-Man and War Machine and I hope Brubaker continues that relationship. Also, Deodato’s artwork was much better this time around. No weird, shit eating grins by the characters here.

    4/5

@rockingeek: Is that who confronted Steve and Beast towards the end? I don’t know who Khonshu is…

  21. @nextchamp He is Moon Knight’s ‘moon god’

  22. Cool issue. Not stellar, but a solid read. Enjoying this the most of the 3 Avengers books. Deodato seemed more consistent this issue. But, umm, can we give Beast Sleeves on his space suit, please? Because um…. he’s gonna loose his limbs walking sleeveless across Mars. 😉 4/5

  23. @Prax  There is an Atmosphere there so maybe he can withstand that kinda cold….though he has never shown to be able too.

  24. Really enjoyed this, it was a tough choice because I loved Flash and Batman Beyond, but this had so many good scenes.

  25. I love space-suit Avengers.

  26. This was really damn good. One of the three best books of the week.

  27. I wanted badly to love this, but the series isn’t clicking for me. I won’t be picking up next months issue.

  28. There is nothing objectively wrong with this, it’s all on me. I think I’m just a little oversaturated on Avengers. If I were just getting back into comics after a break though, I would be psyched to be on the ground floor of this. I can appreciate the quality of this book while at the same time admitting I’m just not feeling it.

  29. Really lking this. The mystery deepens. Not sure if I like the wierd space suits everyone got tucked in, but the science nerd in me appreciated that they need them. All except Valkyrie, if I was paying attention.
