  1. First issue was okay. A soild 3 and nothing more. If this arc doesn’t go anything or at least have a reason for existence in two more issues (or by #4); then I will drop it.

  2. Yeah I have to agree. Nothing really special with the 1st issue, but hoping it does pick up. I do like the cover though.

  3. The cover is an homage to a poster for the first Jaws movie.

  4. Yeah the 3rd issue that comes out next month is also cool as well. It’s a dawn of the dead poster cover.

  5. OMG, LOL that cover is just that the Jaws poster! This book is hilarious and genius!! LMAO

  6. That cover is also a straight rip off of an issue of XXXZombies from last year by Tony Moore, which is also an homage to the Jaws poster that I currently have on my wall.

  7. FAIL

  8. So it’s an homage, to an homage, to an original?

    Pure Deadpool.

  9. bashing a book on its own thread…yeah thats original too

  10. i’m not asking you to pay me for this. i’ll piss in your ear for free. That’s just the kind of guy i am

  11. oh hush you charmer  🙂

  12. @TNC: have I ever told you about the circle of low-brow and high-brow?

Well, here’s the thing. Low-brow and high-brow don’t exist on different ends of a diametrically opposed scale. Instead they exist in a circular scale with low-brow and high-brow opposed to each other.

The point is when something becomes so stupid and low-brow it actually passes the bottom of the circular scale and starts to re-enter the high-brow area.

You see, Deadpool is such a stupid, moronic piece of rubbish that it’s now actually a parody and reflection of comics, pop-culture and society. SO…. this book is brilliant

  13. so by that logic your  freakin brilliant too?

  14. totally! i’m Andy fucking Warhol

  15. @edward: So that means the Deadpool film will be so badass….you’ll probably go blind?

  16. @TNC: i would use the word "badass" but yes

assuming there is going to be a deadpool movie which there won’t be sotough titties

  17. Surely Deadpool is a justification for downloading comics? 🙂

  18. @edward: I think someone has missed the Ryan Reynolds interviews confirming it. Plus Marvel announced it as well.

@Diabhol: Dude, Deadpool is a justification for everything. Soon everyone will be down with the ‘Pool. Whether they like it or not….(I guess he’s a facist now)

  19. @TNC: i did miss that, that’s fantastic news. really, really great. i just shit my pants

  20. Why does DP inspire so much fanboy hate? I totally understand the character is not for everyone, but there is plenty of books that arn’t for me — so I just don’t read them or comment on them. Why do people feel the need to bitch about Deadpool?

No one is being forced to read anything, if you don’t like something, pay it no mind.

"What you eat doesn’t make me shit".

  21. And now for the most annoying question: How does this fit in the marvel zombies continuity?

  22. I love Deadpool, but this book was just a step too far. The first issue didn’t grab me, it didn’t sound like Deadpool, and Marvel Zombies do nothing for me.

I’m not bothering with this, one Deadpool series and one amazing mini series (Suicide Kings) is enough Merc with a Mouth for me.

  23. @Wade: People don’t like things that are fun. That’s why people hate him.

  24. i don’t think it’s that the book inspires fanboy hate but instead it inspires a reaction to the overly vocal minority of the fanboy communinity to constantly detail it’s virtues

that and it’s the posterboy of the shitty 90s comic era

  25. @edward: *gasps*

    You take that back man!!

  26. those who say they hate deadpool are more vocal than the fans. why? isn’t it obvious that there just closet fans? even the conor and josh stop on by just to drop some love 🙂 edward-ONE OF US ONE OF US!!

  27. i read the first issue. i didn’t need to read anymore after that. i don’t think there’s a denial issue there.

i went to this christian dude who taught me how to be "normal"

  28. I might stop getting this, if this issue doesn’t rate at least a 4.

I rarely see negative Deadpool comments. He seems to be one the most popular characters around.

  29. Deadpool is popular because it gives what most fans want:

Big action and dumb jokes. That’s why Loeb’s Hulk is so popular; cause it’s just big dumb fun. Now I want more in my comics, most of the time, then just a lot of action and humor. But there’s no reason not to have Grant Morrison/Geoff Johns type of comics on one side; and Daniel Way sillyness on the other.

It seems like that’s the big problem, most people cant balance that into their comics.

  30. @TNC: See, now, there’s the problem. You assume everyone wants big action and dumb jokes. That attitude diminutive of comics or any other media; it places a low expectation on comics in general. I want intelligent films, Tv and comics.
However you’re right. There is no reason one can’t have both style of comics. Both have their strength and weakness in story-telling.

  31. @JesseG- He is popular, no doubt, but also has a lot of haters, who always feel the need to let us know about it. Dude’s write articles about how much he "sux" on this site, lol.

My point is that I understand this character is not for everyone, & that’s life, different strokes & all of that. I don’t like the X-Men, but you will never see me go into an X-Men book thread JUST to let the book’s fans know that I don’t like them. With the DP haters, this happens ALL THE TIME.

All I’m saying is — if you hate something, cool, don’t read it. It won’t affect you in the least. Why do you feel the need to give shit to the people who DO like it?

  32. @WadeWilson- I’m in total agreement. I’ll never understand why someone would waste their time and money on something that they obviously don’t like. It’s like edward on the Wednesday Comics thread.

  33. Well even after defending this character to death I have to state this:

    TITLE IS DROPPED

Bad writing and bad plot makes me not want to pick this series up anymore. Go read the other Deadpool series for good ol ‘Deadpool

  34. shit book.

  35. oh, s30, you kidder!

    @TNC: sorry to hear that

  36. I really don’t understand Gischler.

He seems to plot or outline a story really well. He’s got some interesting, if not great ideas. But when it comes to actually writing diaologue and building up a story….it just falls flat. Anything I have read of his has been pretty much the same way.

  37. I gave it a 3… unless #3 shows up on a week where I have hardly anything else, this is dropped.

  38. This wasn’t the greatest thing since sliced bread but I thought it was funny.  However I like Daniel Way’s Deadpool title more.

  39. "Why would you even imagine me here!?"

  40. I’m in agreement that this book isn’t how a Deadpool story should be. I love Daniel Way’s Deadpool and think he should be only one working on Deadpool’s books. This one just seems like a tie-in to make money of the new popularity of Deadpool.
