  1. Didn’t this come out two weeks ago?

I’m fine with this shipping bi-weekly, although I doubt it’s scheduled to stay that way.

  2. Yup. But that’s fine by me. Since I haven’t ready any Batman prior to last issue this will help keep me less confused for this arc. I hope it stays on track and lives up to all the hype.

  3. I think Batman is going to be bi-weekly until the other tie-ins finish their current arcs, then it’ll go back to monthly but there will be an RIP tie-in every week..  But I’m not sure.

  4. ^It goes back to monthly after this issue. There were some shipping issues with 675 (it was two weeks late, even though it had a fill-in artist), but now they’re back on track. Tony Daniel updates his progress on his blog pretty often: http://tonydaniel.blogspot.com/

It’s good this isn’t coming out bi-weekly from now on. I’d do nothing but anticipate and theorize about Black Glove if that were the case. :-S

  5. I’m pretty sure this is the last time its going to come out this quick. (the solicit on DC’s site says so anyway) Either they don’t want interest to subside after the introduction issue, or they want to make it so Grant’s books are all synced up, and get a Grant Morrison Day every month this summer. 🙂

  6. yay! yay! yay! this book is the shit!

  7. The first issue of RIP had enough hype to have my buy it… I bought it hoping to find a great begining to a potentially legendary storyline.  I was disappointed.  Very disappointed.

Rule #1 for any promoted storyline is to make it a little more accessible… I had no idea what the frak was going on.  The ending was just poorly executed (no pun intended) as I had no idea what just happened… I can’t see me buying any further issues.  Sad.

  8. @JD if you were confused, it wasn’t because you hadn’t been reading the series. I felt the same way. I’m hoping that the story really gets started in this one and that the last issue was meant to be more of a prelude than a first issue and they just tacked on the R.I.P. thing to make it sell more. I’m still expecting big things.

  9. I agree with both JD & NealAppeal — This book was pretty confusing, and not just for new readers jumping on. This was a huge chance for Batman to get new readers with all the huge hype, and if Mr Morrison held back a bit with his confusing writing style & made it more accessible to people who have never read the title more readers would hang around.

But … I guess if Grant Morrison wrote a linear easy to understand story, he wouldn’t be Grant Morrison, right?

  10. i, too was confused by the last ending, but I am looking forward to this issue – maybe things will start to clear up

  11. Did you guys learn nothing from ‘Morrison Week’?  Just stick with it, eventually, it will start to make sense. We’re just passengers on Mr. Morrison Wild Ride here. Have faith that it’ll work out!

  12. Adressing the confusing end:

Morrison recently adressed the issue ina recent interview stating that there was a massive coloring error and that the joker wasn’t supposed to remain being covered in blood after he snapped out of his fantasy.

  13. I f—ing love this series. The detective work he’s putting the reader through is astounding. The hidden stuff with the roulette wheel (compare it to the one in 667), the numerology, the subtext of all of this, the "8181"="HAHA" business–WOW, just WOW.

  14. Just to be clear — the ending didn’t confuse me, I got that it was what was goin’ on in Joker’s head.

The rest of the story is what confused me. Characters I’ve never seen before, weird hunchbacks & stuff like that.

  15. I actually liked the new characters. They look promising. I just thought such a big event should have started with a bang. But it started with…not that much. Likes I said earlier, it felt like nothing more than a prelude.

  16. I like this issue a lot. It has enough to keep me intrigued and wanting to see this whole story through. I really hope it pays off in the end.

  17. I picked this title up just for the RIP arc, and have dug it so far. I’ve found it easy to pick up and follow without any confusion.

  18. Much better than the last issue. I am a new Batman reader and I feel I am up to speed with this issue. Morrison did a great job.

  19. After being lost last issue I actually feel like I understood this one. Can’t wait to see where this goes.

  20. I don’t like this girlfriend, am I alone in thinking this shit would never go down on Selina’s  watch am I the only casual batman fan that wants that to happen, I know Dick Grayson does and I trust him he knows Bruce better than me.  I still dont know what in the hell is going on or why this particular group of villians can blow up the bat cave where all others have found that difficult.  Alfred’s charicterization seems off am I the only one who thinks this?

  21. I’m flat out shocked this book issue isn’t Pick Of The Week! This is the best issue of Batman, and best Batman book I have read since … I don’t even remember. It was unbelievabley good. Too bad the first issue of R.I.P. wasn’t THIS good to keep the interest of any new readers, but any of you guys who just picked up Batman R.I.P. and felt let down by the first issue — please go pick this up, you won’t be dissapointed again. For real.

I don’t read any of the X-Men books, so I can’t say how good the Pick Of The week really is, but if it’s better than this issue? Wow. I better go buy it.

  22. Ahhhhh so many questions! It’s like watching LOST D: I really loved this issue, unlike the first one I really got a sense of ‘oh shit, things are going to get BAD for Bats now!’ Can’t wait for the next one.

@CalvinBallAllStar – Totally with you man! Selena would be kicking ass. I don’t trust Jet, something about her is….Not right.

  23. Dont get me wrong I have faith in the Grant to pull it all together, but i dunno for someone who just casually reads batman this all seems a little off, but that could be the point in morrison we trust

  24. Man, this comic is just completely insane! And I mean that in the best way possible.

This was my pick of the week, which is really impressive considering how great a week it was. Seriously, just how great was Giant Sized Astonishing X-Men – and that wasn’t even my pick of the week! Fatnastic, fantastic week of comics.

  25. My POW.

  26. I still don’t like Jezebel Jet. She came out of nowhere and is now the focal point of Bruce’s life? Cmon. And the possibility that Bruce’s folks were trash? I hope that’s not true. It would remind me of Gwen Stacy having Osborn’s kids…yuck.
