Intrigued by this. I like The Other’s and heard good things about Ostrander but hope they ain’t testing the water for Geoff Johns departure.

  2. Wait, on the cover it has Johns, Pelletier, and Parsons – but the solit says Ostrander, Garcia, and Hope?

  3. Do we have any idea why Ostrander is writing a random issue in the middle of a story arc?

    • I assume because Johns is writing and or planning a lot of trinity war and is probably communicating with Lemire about how it will flow into JLD.

  4. How crazy would it be if Johns was leaving DC?

    • Let’s not even joke about that :/

    • Half my DC pull would vanish, if Snyder left so would the other half.

    • Technically some of the pull list is vanishing. He left Vibe, leaves GL … what’s next?

    • I get the impression that you’re messing around with me a bit, but what the hell. i’m a good sport.
He only put his name on the first Vibe to get people to at least check it out to sell more books(speculation) and, more importantly, to make sure the character reinforced what he wanted to do with him in JLA.
Now, as it stands, he’s doing 2 JL books, Aquaman, Trinity War and he probably has to coordinate it with at least a few other books. I’d say he has a pretty full DC plate that he’s about to make happy.
Also, if I’m lucky, he’ll take over Earth 2 in 9 months. I don’t know if you heard, but his JSA is fairly popular. 😉

  5. Ostrander is a bit of a random choice of a fill in….Until you realize the issue is about ‘The Others’. A dynamic team like that totally fits in his wheelhouse and I’m excited to read this. Not familiar with the artist though. I know there’s a thing as ‘Google’ but does anyone know who he is and what he’s done?

    • I saw the preview of this issue and the art looked so so. Wasn’t impressed. Let’s hope Ostrander can make up the difference with a great story.

  6. DC gets a a lot of negative press for how it treats creators, but last time I checked, John Ostrander was suffering from Glaucoma and struggling with his medical bills:

I hope he is in good health now, but good for DC to give him some work.

  7. I would like to know whether one issue really makes that much of a difference.

  8. Seeing the cover for this, and knowing that DC has been advertising this (at least on the net) as a fill in seems like a shameful bait and switch to me. I mean how difficult is it to put the correct names on a cover? Especially when you’re doing a fill in? It reeks of trickery to me.

  9. This issue kinda sucked balls.

  10. I hated this issue. If I knew Aquaman was a cameo I wouldn’t have gotten this issue. If the next issue is more of the same, I’m done.

  11. No, sir. I didn’t like it.

I didn’t even care about the Others in the Black Manta arc when Ivan Reis was drawing them.

Can’t wait to get back to the main story and see what this ancient sea king white walker is all about.

  12. The art was pretty iffy, but Ostrander had a great voice for all of these characters. Especially for ‘The Operative’ and overall I think he did a good job doing his usual thing for a team book. Again it’s a shame the art was so mediocre cause I would have rated this higher if he got someone better on this.

    3/5

  13. I don’t know. I wasn’t a fan of the outsiders before. This one might be on the chopping block for me. I’ll give it another issue, since the regular creative team is coming back, but I don’t know.

  14. “the others” rather. not sure why i said the outsiders. haha

Only read two reviews so far one said it was rubbish the other brilliant. Don’t know what to do.

  16. An instant classic “Return to comic store for small amount of credit” issue!

I love Ostranders Star Wars stuff, but this is not good at all.

  17. Glad to see I’m not the only one who hated this. 2 stars for me, and that was being generous.

  18. So… I finally read this last night. What a pile of gooey poop that was. I mean, I liked the Others as written by Johns a while back but this was just meh. The art wasn’t great, the writing was sub-par so I wonder why the hell did we get a good arc interrupted by this!?

It felt like an interupted coitus and that is never a good thing! 0_o
