Trailer: ‘The Wolverine’ Teaser

Logan is headed to Japan in the newly released teaser for The Jacket Saga: Rising Sun The Wolverine. Would you believe it looks more promising than that other Wolverine movie? It almost has to, right? Still a bit early, but we’re hearing good things. And the character’s exploits in Asia have always been a fascinating part of the comic book mythos, barely explored in his film appearances to date.

Sadly, this is one of those blink and you’ll miss it trailers, offering only 20 seconds of footage. Then again, it’s the first substantial offering since the motion poster featuring Logan skulking in the rain. This has a few more proper nouns and verbs to it, including some martial arts action and bona fide swordplay from Rila Fukushima’s Yuko.

Let’s have a look at that trailer courtesy of MTV’s Splash Page!

James Mangold’s The Wolverine hits theaters on July 26th in the US.

  1. Huh. Not even a title show.
Well, that’s what you’d call a teaser alright.

  2. Wow you weren’t kidding about blink and you’ll miss it, I thought it cut off early the first time I watched it! I’m one of the few people who didn’t hate Origins (though I hated parts of it) so I’m excited for this movie!

  3. I wish the sword handle looked less like a dildo in the poster. Saying that i would take the dildo poster over the whole of the last movie, So i am in!!!

  4. Time for the yellow costume or a costume from the books wit his face covered.

  5. Jeez…even trailers have trailers now.

  6. I didn’t hate the last one, kind of liked it. More so than how the Xmen franchise has gone anyway (though Deadpool was a huge f*** up in the end).

I was looking forward to this… then made the horrible mistake of finding out who the screenwriter is and looking up their body of work. Ehhh…. uhhh…. well…. crap.

Never say never… hopefully this will be good. I got my fingers crossed.

    • If you were able to stomach the last one, I’m fairly confident you’ll be able to sit through this one. Mangold’s direction alone should be an improvement. Jackman having more involvement in this one also helps me rest easy and even be a little bit excited.

  7. I’ve been so anxious for a glimpse of this that I’ll take what I can get.

Ya know, it’s weird. As a long time student of the X-Men with a minor in Wolverine, I should have serious gripes with all of these movies. But I just … don’t. I have my complaints sure, but the movie version of Wolverine (characterization and performance) isn’t among them. There was no excuse for the last movie, but every time I see Jackman’s Logan back in action I get a little excited.

He’s the best there is at Movie Wolverine, even if Movie Wolverine isn’t all that great.
