Separating Creations From Creators
May 18, 2013 11:42 am I don't know if you are being obtuse or ignorant on this issue. The details of why Card specifically was the target have been mentioned a million times. It is far more than his beliefs that got him in the mess. Would you say the same of Card was Chair of an organization that furthered the agenda of segregating public schools on grounds of ethnicity.

Separating Creations From Creators
May 18, 2013 11:33 am I don't know how believing in Magic is any different than believing in monotheist religion and how knowing an artists belief in either lessens his or her work's worth. How can you even appreciate Terrence Malick's films without the context of his Christian faith? Isn't the knowledge of Bradbury's Humanism only enchances the experiencs of his work? I recently saw something similar during the discussion of the new Tom Cruise movie, where people flat-out said they hate him because of his religion. The actions of the Church of Scientology are oppressive, and you might think that only messed up people might follow such an institution, but the Catholic Church has committed worse crimes and it has 1.2 billion followers. I am going to tell you right now that if you find out that your favorite artist is devoutly Catholic, it would only improve your appreciation of his or her work?
There was this meme on social media recently about how "it's not your beliefs, it's what you do with them." People think less of Orson Scott Card not because of his beliefs, but because of his actions.

James Robinson Leaves EARTH 2 and DC Comics?
May 18, 2013 10:51 am @ithoSapien The term you are looking for is Schadenfreude. The term for DC's actions, on the other hand is, Shenanigans. It is not weird to laugh at shenanigans. But my reaction to this news is

AGE OF ULTRON #8
May 17, 2013 2:06 am I have plenty of friends and I said Public Forum. Places where people discuss stuff. Again, any malice or delusions of superiority are projections of your anxieties, maybe. I can only speak for myself, so I don't particularly know why you feel that way. I also don't understand Negative/Positive dichotomy for something as esoteric as pop-culture discussion. If there is such a think, does it follow basic algebra rules? Is this talk of my *negative* attitude a net positive or net negative? Who gets to do these calculations? Is there an accountant? At this point, you guys have written more words about how much you dislike my opinion on this book than express your own. If you really feel I am being *Offensive*, and breaking the iFanboy Code of Conduct, the most *positive* action should be to report me over email:

Another feature ifanboy is missing.
PS: The sentence should be, "The definition of muddi here would be rude, impolite, etc."

AGE OF ULTRON #8
May 17, 2013 12:15 am I don't know where you guys live, but where I come from that's how conversations work in the public sphere. This is public forum where people express their opinions and other people respond. Any malice in my comments you find is your own projection. Also, "I don't like this broseph" is the antithesis of constructive criticism. That's how discourse works.
This whole conversation is symptomatic of the internet now. Everybody lives in their tiny bubbles so all disagreements are taken as affronts, all those who oppose labeled "haters". The amount of negativity on the internet is vastly overestimated, because everyone is in a circlejerk, and all outside are subhumans. So, good for you guys, I guess.
And here, kamillo, here's a definition of ad hominem:

CANCELPOCALYPSE! DC Brings The Hammer Down on LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES, THRESHOLD, DEMON KNIGHTS, & DIAL H
May 16, 2013 1:21 am I would tell you not to dis Vibe, as it's very good. Almost like what Bendis promised with Miles, but then I think why bother, that series is doomed too.

CANCELPOCALYPSE! DC Brings The Hammer Down on LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES, THRESHOLD, DEMON KNIGHTS, & DIAL H
May 16, 2013 1:19 am So I checked the numbers on the pre-Flashpoint Legion series, also by Levitz
http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/21030.html
It was selling more. The first new 52 issue sold twice that, but with in six month, it was down to old sales, almost exactly

AGE OF ULTRON #8
May 16, 2013 1:05 am The comment histories on ifanboy are messed up, it keeps showing the same comments. This is the first time I have commented on the Age of Ultron issue comments directly related to the series. This is the last issue I'll check out before checking the spoilers on the release of the final issue. I wish Bendis would follow the advice of his own idol, David
Mamet
http://www.slashfilm.com/a-letter-from-david-mamet-to-the-writers-of-the-unit/
Age of Ultron has all of the problems mentioned in the letter. All of them. I can list them if you would like.
Another thing messed up with comments on ifanboy is the lack of reply notifications. A person like you can throw ad hominem whenever somebody disagrees with them, and not have a (1) badge on their profile title gnawing at their conscience for attacking a nameless faceless person's character.
