The next step in the X-Factor saga, as told by Peter David. Under the government's thumb, Madrox tries to do his best at helping the 'common mutant' survive. This issue ties in, very loosely, to the Secret Invasion storyline with She-Hulk and her sidekick Jazinda (a skrull) making an appearance. This issue focuses on the drama of being an investigator as well as pitting the team, subtly, against Val and the government.

As a set up to a fresh plot arc, this issue works and the crossover with David's other book, She-Hulk, could be fun. I'd hoped for a more immediate impact sort of story, though and I bet David is getting tired of his plots getting run over by crossovers.

The art in this issue is only average. Sketchy and light. Some of the angles are off. Not really to my taste.
