Wow.

I guess the question a lot of fanboys have asked themselves subconsciously is what is the most important factor in enjoying a comic book. Is it the art or is it the writing?

I had read some reviews complaining about the at on this book so was tempted to drop it. I thought I wouldn’t be able to read something that looked beyond awful. I can’t draw so I rarely criticise art but I feel like Marvel was testing Peter David when deciding the artist on the book. My question is, as I haven’t had a lot of experience with Larry Stroman, Is the art terrible or was it the inks.

If you compare this book with mighty avengers #16 I don’t think it was the art that let it down but the inks (although again, Marvel put out something that was testing its writer)

So the art was bad. I mean very bad. But the writing was great. As I said, I was ready to give up on this book as I have been enjoying it but not to any level I would shout about. This issue changed that. The writing was good, you really have grown to love the characters and the skrull reveal was kinda cool if you are a long time x-fan. This little arc has a lot of potential with this undercover skrull working with she hulk and the title ‘he loves you’ could explain some more back-story to the fight every issue summer event that is secret invasion.

Writing good, art bad. Worth a read? I can’t believe it but yes and therefore the answer to the question at the start, what is more important writing or art?

I guess with Peter David it’s the writing. Maybe it will change for the writer but David could write a book that a 1 year old drew and it would still be good.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 1 - Poor
