Damon Lindelof might be late as hell getting this series out, but there's no denying how much fun this has been.
Maybe it's just because I haven't 'suffered' from the lateness of this book, or stuck with it in the very beginning....But I think all the whining and complaining of this lateness is overdone. I admit it's terrible what Lindelof has done and it should get shit for this. But this entire mini has been so well done I just cant fault him all that much for it.
This entire issue focuses on who this new 'She-Hulk' is and why she is out to save Bruce Banner. I loved this entire issue, it's all a character study into Betty Ross, who....and this is a huge spoiler mind you...is the She-Hulk in this universe. That totally blew me away with that reveal towards the end. But it makes so much sense after reading this comic. For the whole time you think it's going to be Jennifer Walters (the real She-Hulk in 616 continuity) that it was a huge slap in the face towards the end. But there's more to this then just a shocking reveal. Really great humor in this book. From Walters complaining about Betty' repeating every line (suggesting using air quotes, which she does and the letter does too), to Lindelof totally making fun of the Registration Act, to the hilarious (but cute) Hulk Hamster. Although I did groan a bit when he decided to put in a little product placement for JJ Abrams...but still it was a funny twist for the ending.
Yu and McCaig again are just at the top of their games respectively. There wasnt much actually going in this issue; it really is talking heads the majority of the time. But his attention to detail is nearly perfect and his background are absolutely perfect. Some cheesecake in this issue though, I'm ususally not a fan for something like that....but it's what Yu is usually best at. I mean look at Secret Invasion and tell me how many times you see big boobs on the females. Dave McCaig might be my new favorite colorist. This is a bright and colorful mini and it just sets the tone for the whole issue.
So yes...I think people need to stop whining and complaining about the lateness and just back into this mini. It's more then just a huge beat 'em up by two powerhouses. This issue proves there's more to this then just fighting. There's witty diaologue and great character developments as well. Plus it just might be the most gorgeous looking Marvel title out right now. So either get back on this mini or get the trade for it. Dont act like a kid and be all like 'oh I am never gonna read this series again'. Lindeloff deserves the shit for the lateness, but he all makes up for it since he's came back. Totally worth POTW for this issue.

Anyone else catch the Lost reference? I missed it the first time, but I caught it after reading this review.
The Avengers have a breast size requirement in their application form.
I’m like you, I don’t typically let lateness ruin a book for me, it beats having a book cancelled midstream (Hello THE TWELVE!). I just want the book to be good.
But I’ve come to accept that others (ifanboy Conor is a good example) view lateness different than me. For them, a schedule is a promise, and they don’t like when the promise is broken.
Different strokes…
