I love Larfleeze.

The blue lanterns are still my favorite lanterns; but Agent Orange is really growing on me. He is such an interesting and dynamic character. Geoff Johns clearly has thought a lot into this character. I mean here’s a guy who is clearly schitzo; but we’re suppose to believe he’s greedy? His narration is just superb; and I love it how it just pops in randomly threw out the issue. That’s how you write a good villain. Plus there’s also a pretty good ‘origin’ story for a creature Larfleeze eaten so many years ago. That’s another thing I love about this character; he’s so greedy that the only other corp members is what he’s eaten and uses as a abberition from his ring.

Oh and there was this other stuff going on…..Hal trying to find hope and something about Stewart’s girlfriend being a Star Shappire….but I got bored of it and cared more about Larfleeze. Which is a problem; that the main plot is less interesting then the villain.

Tan is definitely better in this issue then previous. Last time some of his character models were off and his blue/green Hal Jordan was bugging me. Here it’s better represented and the coloring is also improved in this issue. There’s a splash page in here that is just as good that Reis has done in this series. I dont know if I want Philip Tan to be a permanent pencillier on this title’; but if this is the quality he provides for the rest of this arc….I wont be complaining.

Overall; great new villain, boring Guardians/Jordan plot, improved art, and a good back up story? I say it’s a must buy for people. I am worried though that Johns is not writing a good story with Hal Jordan involved….You know considering he’s the main character in all of this.
