Stop me if you've heard this one before. We see some ordinary people, going about their leisurely business, with the TV news droning on in the background. One of them is cutting up meat on a cutting board, and glances up to see a news reporter talking about superheroes coming back to life. She pauses, picks up her knife and kills everyone around her. The scene ends with her revealed as a supervillain, swearing vengeance on a newly resurrected hero ... and we never see her again.
We were in exactly this position in the last issue of Brightest Day, when Black Manta showed up. That was an amazing scene in its own right, but it was so nice, they did it twice. Where is Black Manta now? Where, for that matter, is Aquaman? The cover would have you believe that the issue focuses on him, yet he's in only one panel.
What an unfocused mess this issue was. What's the deal with Firestorm? Did they seriously put Ray Palmer in a mech suit? Why is Deadman still getting jerked around the universe not doing anything?
Sigh.

I think it’s just a nitpick, but Aquaman being only in one panel is annoying. I do agree about Black Manta though. They brought him back brilliantly last issue and he’s no where to be seen. Huh?
Too much Firestorm I also agree with. But the stuff with Hawkman/Girl and definitely Manhunter made this issue for me. Plus how can you not say ‘holy shit’ at the end of this?
I agree, the ending is an amazing "holy shit" moment. They wouldn’t have brought back the Anti-Monitor unless they were going to do something really cool with him, and now that they’re starting to do it I’ll stay tuned to find out more.
Anyone want to share what this last page "holy shit" moment is?
