So we have a cover involving Aquaman and he’s only in for one panel? Not a page…not a page….a panel! What? I’m sorry but that annoys me to no end, when the cover has nothing to do with the actual comic.

That nitpick aside, I think this series is slowly starting to win me over. Last issue was pretty good, but I didn’t care for a lot of Firestorm and Hawkman/girl. In this issue? Pretty much the same. Doesn’t help that Firestorm takes a good chunk of this issue. I just don’t care for them really, cause they are an unlikeable bunch. The Hawkman/girl story is slightly better this time. Cause now we know what Hath-Set (or whoever this is) wants out of the characters. Hopefully we see more butt kicking by these two next week. The Martian Manhunter story though, probably the best thing about this issue. Some fantastic work here by Tomasi and/or Johns for making this a very heart warming issue for him. Sure it’s a re-hash of his origin, but it does give us a small taste of what’s to come as well. Also, god damn that scene with the mother was brutal!

Art again is very solid. Would still love to know who is doing what, but I’m just gonna have to accept on not knowning. Although it’s obvious Patrick Gleason did the Martian Manhunter stuff. His style has gotten so much better over the years, and these two issues are showing some of his best work. With the artwork being consistant it is a very beautiful looking title. That much I can be sure of.

Overall this series, again, is slowly but surely getting entertaining. I wish Firestorm would be out of the picture, but you still focus on three other characters with very interesting stories. Although it would be nice to see more Aquaman especially when he’s on the cover. Anyways, the ending definitely makes me wanna stay for another issue. How the hell is Deadman going to get out of this?

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 4 - Very Good

  1. @TNC: This might help moving forward, since I assume the art duties will remain the same for sake of continuity:

Patrick Gleason is on Martian Manhunter (as you pointed out)

    Adrian Syaf is on Firestorm

    Joe Prado is on Aquaman

Ivan Reis is on Deadman/White Lantern

    Scott Clark is on Hawkman

Granted, I had to deduce this all on my own because I pretty sure it’s not conclusively listed anywhere on the internet. So I may be wrong. Just trying to help.
